The price was the main thing I switched over. It is very cheap, and I read very good reviews about them. So I decided to give it a try.
The beginning was smooth when I didn't have any obvious issues. But then I started having issues such as I uploaded a CSS file but it was not updated on the server. It appeared to be updated on www.mysite.com, and then not on http://mysite.com or vice versa. It was confusing and frustrating. So I called up tech support, and found out that their tech support representatives were completely ignorant about what the real issue was.
I did a test to demonstrate the problem. I created a CSS class called ".white" and had "color: white" in it, applied it to some text; then I switched it to "color: black," and it shows that the changes do not show up on my site after I uploaded my file. This tech support lady went and ask her co-worker and came back telling me that I should change the class name to be ".black" then my text will appear black. Then she told me that it is not her job to provide coding support. I was furious, because she had no idea what a CSS class is for, and all she did was just to alter the class name so that the class I applied no longer exist, then the color was by default black, not because she "corrected" my code.
Eventually I finally got a hold of someone who witnessed and recognized the issue, and he suspected that the server might be acting up a little. But I was already exhausted, and I just accepted the faith, and did all the changes on my local virtual server, and then upload the new files and expect the updates to show up like 1 hour later.
FatCow is ridiculous, their staffs are polite, but definitely incompetent and NOT knowledgeable.
I am now using DreamHost, and so far happy with it.
