I started writing websites for friends about 4 years ago (with a view to going commercial) and saw the Streamline Bulk hosting package as a cheap way into the market.
In the early days I thought that the slow CP was just because they were new. I also thought that the slow MySql access times and website loading times (including Wordpress) was because they are new.
The speed of MySql, Linux, PHP are still slow. Wordpress on Streamline is totally unacceptable.
What is worse is that today, 7 of my (now well established clients) cannot view their websites because ie8 says it cannot find the site and Firefox has timed out.
You probably know that Streamline do not host any servers. They buy time from (I think, and don't shout me down here please) fasthosts.com. This probably explains their marketing focus, rather than support.
Lots of reviews have mentioned their ability to charge credit cards many times and their slow refunds. I had this in my "early days". Must say that nowadays they don't seem like theiving B******s as much as incompetent 3rd party ISP providers.
In summary: I have 30 accounts with them. Because I need MySql, reliabilty, "heavier" sites, reliable sites, professional support, "better than 80% up-time", I am transferring all my Streamline sites to another ISP.
Don't know where yet - Any ideas people?
PS:
I dislike Streamline a bit. Have had all your experiences and more. Only now able to ditch the gits. Can anyone suggest a better ISP please? Specifics woiuld be very helpful, rather than... "ANYONE THAN THOSE BUNCH OF ROBBING GITS" :-) Cheers Mike
