😠 Rip Off - Stay Away from FastHosts. They allure you in with low prices and will have hidden small text to get you in a contract.
I just asked them to cancel one of the service not being used and they told they have me in contract for 6 months, which I did not agree to.
Very dodgy and hideous tactics. If you are looking for hosting and professional service go to Dreamhost, Hostgator, Godaddy, Siteground.
Stay away from rip off dodgy Fasthosts.

This company renews your domain name even if you dont want it 30 days in advance - then FASTHOST send you a reminder to say "do you want to renew" and exactly 2 mins later says "it has been renewed" and guess what they do this at 11.56pm at night and although their terms and conditions say "you can cancel in 30 days if you are not satisfied"- all LIES and when you cancel says " sorry our terms state we renew 30 days in advance" - this is a CON and is basic theft from your bank accounts - stay away from FASTHOSTS INTERNET HOSTING - ABSOLUTE COWBOYS

😠 Entered a domain contract with fast host May 2020 with basic package. Found it ok to start with but started experiencing mail delivery failures from verified email addresses and email just simply not synching through their livemail system. Totally frustrating when your trying to run a business. Quotes an PO orders just never make it to the destination. So we decided to upgrade like a fool to the 50gig exchange server. Well big mistake the problem got worse. Different PC's in the office logged onto to same email accounts showed different mail in the inbox and sent folders. Then we upgraded PC and Laptops to Office 365 and the problem got worse. Then we had two sets of sent folders that were different on each PC.. send an email from one device and it would only show on the device sent from. This caused mayhem as no one knew who had rep;ied to messages. So after contacting their support. Nothing changed. Now it was costing us money in loss of sales because we were not receiving [read more...]

🔃 Fasthosts is part of United Internet(3*) 🔧 Services: Web HostingDomain Registration Own datacenter
⇔ Redirected domains: fasthosts.com streamline.net
Fasthosts is one of the better-known long-running hosting brands in the UK. The company dates back to 1998 and was founded by Andrew Michael, so this is not a short-lived reseller or a recent label built around a leased platform. Over the years they have expanded from a traditional hosting business into a much broader infrastructure provider, with milestones that include early UK data centre development, the launch of dedicated servers, later entry into cloud services, and a serious push into modern bare metal and enterprise-grade facilities.
They are clearly built around the UK market. The company works primarily in English, pricing is shown in GBP, and the whole service model is strongly tied to UK hosting, UK support, and local infrastructure. That local focus gives the brand a more established and grounded feel than many mass-market hosts that try to present themselves as global while operating with very little visible regional identity.
The product range is much broader than basic shared hosting. Fasthosts covers domain registration and transfers, Linux web hosting, Windows hosting, WordPress hosting, website builder, ecommerce website builder, professional email, Exchange email, Microsoft 365, VPS, Windows VPS, automation- and AI-oriented VPS options, reseller hosting, reseller WordPress hosting, dedicated servers, storage servers, GPU servers, Arm-based servers, bare metal servers, public cloud, and cloud backup. That gives them a full ladder from beginner products to much heavier infrastructure.
Their standard Web Hosting plans are clearly aimed at small businesses, personal projects, and customers who want something easy to manage. The packages combine SSD storage, email, SSL on qualifying plans, caching, and a straightforward setup path. The Windows Hosting side is also worth mentioning because they still support .NET 8, MS SQL, and MySQL, which makes them more versatile than providers that only care about Linux hosting.
The WordPress offer is one of the more polished parts of the range. It includes automatic backups, malware scanning, DDoS protection, SSL, a domain on qualifying terms, and email, so it feels more complete than a stripped-down WordPress starter package. Together with their AI Website Builder and Ecommerce Website Builder, they cover the type of customer who wants a simple site without getting involved in server administration.
The server portfolio is where Fasthosts becomes more interesting. Their VPS line includes Linux VPS, Windows VPS, and newer specialist offers such as n8n self-hosted VPS and OpenClaw VPS, which shows they are paying attention to automation and newer deployment use cases instead of leaving the product line frozen in older patterns. The VPS plans emphasize NVMe storage, 1 Gbit/s connectivity, unlimited traffic, root access, and optional Plesk.
Above that, they offer a substantial hardware catalog: Intel dedicated servers, AMD dedicated servers, storage servers, GPU servers, Arm-based servers, and Bare Metal. That is a real infrastructure stack, not just one or two token dedicated boxes added for marketing. Their dedicated and bare metal side feels suitable for customers who need high-performance hosting, virtualization nodes, large storage capacity, or heavier custom deployments.
One detail that matters is the Public Cloud offer, because it is connected to the wider IONOS cloud ecosystem. That widens the technical scope of the company and gives customers a path into a more cloud-oriented environment, although it also means that not every part of the platform feels equally native under the Fasthosts label.
They also operate at a scale well beyond a small provider. With over 1.1 million domains, more than 586,000 live customer mailboxes, over 315,000 websites, and more than 10,000 servers, Fasthosts sits firmly in the category of a mature, high-volume hosting company.
💰 Price & Cost
Fasthosts uses strong introductory pricing, especially on entry-level products. Entry points can look very attractive, with low-cost shared hosting, promotional WordPress plans, inexpensive starter VPS offers, and dedicated servers starting at a fairly accessible level for the UK market. Their email services also begin with low promotional rates, especially on Exchange entry plans.
That said, this is not a provider where the first price tells the whole story. Their commercial model is clearly built around advance billing, automatic renewal, and keeping a valid credit or debit card or PayPal account on file. Like many large hosts, the introductory rate is the attention-grabber, while the standard ongoing cost matters more over time.
The refund policy is helpful on the shared-hosting side but more restrictive once a customer moves into infrastructure services. Web Hosting and Hosting for WordPress come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, which gives new customers some room to test the service. There is also a separate 60-day money-back guarantee for qualifying reseller services. On the other hand, domains, VPS, dedicated servers, bare metal servers, reseller add-ons, and Office 365 are outside the normal refund-friendly part of the catalog. In practice, they are more flexible for entry-level hosting than for server products.
🏢 Data Center
Infrastructure is one of Fasthosts’ stronger areas. Their core footprint is centered on the UK, especially Worcester and London, and the company has invested heavily in having a serious local infrastructure rather than just a retail storefront. The Worcester facility is particularly important because it is tied to a Tier IV standard and positioned around 99.999% availability at facility level, strong resilience, compartmentalised design, and continuous cooling systems.
Their data-centre strategy also has a clear sustainability component. Fasthosts runs its UK facilities on 100% renewable electricity, uses HVO biofuel in generator systems, follows ISO 50001 energy management standards, and targets a PUE of 1.3 or lower. That environmental work adds credibility, especially for customers who want UK-based hosting without ignoring energy efficiency.
For customers focused on data location, the company leans heavily on UK hosting and UK data sovereignty, but the wider server footprint is larger than that. Their international infrastructure references include Worcester, Berlin, Baden-Baden, Logroño, Kansas, and France, while dedicated and bare metal deployments are also tied to location choices such as the UK, Germany, Spain, and the United States. The public-cloud side broadens that reach further through a wider European cloud platform.
Reliability commitments are clearly stated. Web Hosting and WordPress Hosting come with a 99.99% uptime guarantee, and their VPS, cloud, dedicated, and bare metal products also sit under a 99.99% availability commitment for core service operation, outside planned maintenance windows. That gives the company a stronger uptime framework than many mainstream hosts that only mention uptime loosely.
The one weaker point is network transparency. Fasthosts gives useful information such as geo-redundant 100Gb/s fibre connectivity, but they do not go especially deep into carrier mix, peering details, or a clearly published customer-facing ASN profile. For most business customers that will not matter much, but technically demanding network buyers may want more depth.
✍️ Customer Support
Support is a major part of the Fasthosts identity. They offer 24/7 support and make that available through phone, email, live chat, and online help resources. Their support structure feels more mature than the lightweight ticket-only systems used by many lower-cost hosts.
A strong point here is the UK-based support. That matters because it gives the service a more accountable and locally grounded feel, especially for businesses that prefer dealing with a provider that is not hiding behind outsourced first-line handling. The company also supports a wide spread of products, so this is not just entry-level website assistance; there is clear attention to domains, email, hosting, and server-related support as well.
Their self-service help section is also solid. Customers can find setup instructions, account-management help, domain and email guidance, and service-status tools without having to open a ticket for every small issue. That makes the overall support environment more practical for both beginners and established users.
🔨 Control Panel
Fasthosts relies heavily on its own Fasthosts Control Panel rather than behaving like a classic cPanel-only host. That in-house platform handles domains, hosting, mailboxes, servers, billing, renewals, users, and account settings in one place, which is convenient for customers using several product categories together.
This setup works particularly well for small businesses and mixed-service customers. Someone with domains, email, shared hosting, and a VPS can manage everything through one main account environment instead of dealing with disconnected systems.
At the same time, they do not ignore standard hosting tools for server products. Their VPS range offers optional Plesk Web Host Edition, and Bare Metal can also be paired with Plesk or cPanel for customers who want a more traditional hosting-administration layer on top of raw infrastructure. So the default model is their own central account panel, with Plesk and cPanel available where they make operational sense.
🎯 Conclusion
Fasthosts stands out as a long-established UK hosting company with more depth than the brand sometimes gets credit for. Their strongest qualities are broad product coverage, serious UK infrastructure, strong uptime commitments, local support, and a path that lets customers move from simple hosting all the way to bare metal, GPU servers, and broader cloud services without leaving the same provider. They are especially attractive for UK small businesses, agencies, WordPress users, email customers, and server buyers who want a recognisable company with real infrastructure behind it. The Worcester Tier IV facility, renewable-energy focus, and broad dedicated-server catalog add weight to the offer.
The weaker side is that Fasthosts is not the most transparent provider for highly technical network-focused buyers, and some of the pricing looks best only at the introductory stage. Their Public Cloud offering also feels somewhat less self-contained because it connects into the wider IONOS ecosystem.
Overall, Fasthosts is easy to recommend for customers who want a dependable UK-centered provider with a mature product range and real operational history. They are less ideal for buyers who want ultra-detailed network disclosure or the cheapest long-term pricing, but for mainstream hosting and scalable business infrastructure, they remain a strong and credible option.

😠 I saw a good offer on a server, and wanted to try it out.
I sometimes try new hosting places out - just so I can see if I can get better service or something.
After having set up the server, the bandwidth is just terrible.
Since it doesn't perform, I go to cancel. First of all, I can not cancel from their control panel. I reach out to support and tell them I want to cancel. They first and foremost point out that I, stupidly, entered into a contract for a year. And then they're like "but I can help you with registrering a .co.uk or .com domain."
I bought an unmanaged dedicated server. I know what I am doing. But I just reply that I want them to cancel the server as soon as possible - so the day before the contract renews after a year.
They schedule it, but copy and paste the exact same thing with it being in contract for a year.
I wrote that it was due to bandwidth that was underperforming - which they did not attempt to solve. They simply ignored it.

😠 We have been using FastHosts since 2003 when we mistakenly bought a dedicated sever from them.
At the time they gave us a free 'UKREG' account for domains.
They have recently updated their control panel, and the new one is absolutely useless.
All my domains contact details have lost the telephone numbers, and even where on the old system we had 1 contact for our company, set to admin contact on all domain, with the new system we have 1 contact per domain.
Furthermore because the phone numbers are missing, and fasthosts see this as an error with the contact, we now cannot even change a domains nameservers withot having to manually update the contact, then go back to the domain list, and find it again.
There as no choice in this upgrade, although not all customers have ben moved.
2 Customers of ours also have ukreg accounts, 1 is on the new system, and 1 is on the old one still.
Then we discovered that they cannot do inter-account transfers between the new and old [read more...]

😠 AWFUL. THIEVES. AWFUL.
No customer care. happy to take your money - but will not be helpful.
Will auto renew your services without any advance notice and automatically take the money. But they have NO CANCELLATION policy. so if they've taken £1500 for renewals... You've lost that money. I'm not even sure that's legal... But they WILL NOT return your money.

DO NOT be fooled into thinking that the intro offer is a trial offer- it is not- they make it look that way but they will suck your blood for 12 months.
I don't know of any other UK host that has such scary T&Cs.
I tried to cancel after 13 hours- the service is awfull and thier control panel is not a patch on Cpanel. Their SQL databases wouldn't let me add a user on a new data base. Whenever you try to log into one part of the control panel you find yourself having to relog in minutes later when you click on another link.
They have been told off by the ASA in the past and are still using the same tricks.
They are the only hosting firm I would warn you away from

well... I'm speechless. If you want a website that looks like it was constructed by a three year old who was a bit too trigger happy with the old clip art then this is for you.
If you want something that looks slightly professional this is not for you.
Unfortunately I have found this out too late and am lumbered with this piece of junk for 12 months.
Let the lack of any before you buy preview be a warning to you because if you could see if you wouldn't spend 3p on it.
