XServerXServer Inc. is one of Japan’s most established hosting providers, with roots going back to the launch of the XServer rental server service in
July 2003 and corporate establishment on
January 23, 2004. The company is headquartered in Osaka, Japan, with additional offices in Osaka and Tokyo. XServer operates under the Japanese corporate name エックスサーバー株式会社 and has grown from a classic rental-server provider into a wider Japanese hosting, cloud, domain, SSL, security, and web-services group.
The main service remains
XServer Rental Server, a Japanese shared hosting platform suitable for WordPress sites, business websites, email hosting, blogs, small e-commerce projects, and general web publishing. Plans include large
NVMe SSD storage, unlimited MySQL databases, unlimited domains and subdomains, free SSL, email functions, automatic backups, malware checks, web defacement detection, spam filtering, and performance optimization through technologies such as
nginx, RAID10, and X Accelerator.
For business customers,
XServer Business is the more advanced managed hosting line. It includes business-grade shared hosting and managed dedicated server options, with both virtual and physical server types. This service is better suited to companies that need stronger operational support, migration assistance, setup help, higher reliability, and more formal service guarantees.
The VPS portfolio is broad and well segmented.
XServer VPS covers Linux-based virtual private servers, while
XServer VPS for Windows Server targets Windows workloads, remote desktop environments, and Windows applications.
XServer VPS for Game and
XServer GAMEs focus on multiplayer game servers, including Minecraft-style use cases.
XServer VPS for GPU is aimed at AI, GPU processing, and other compute-heavy workloads. The broader product family also includes
XServer VPS for FX Premium,
XServer Cloud PC,
XServer SNS,
XServer shop,
XServer Drive,
XServer Static, and
XServer for WordPress.
The domain and security side is also important.
XServer Domain provides domain registration and DNS management, while
XServer SSL includes both free SSL options and paid DV, OV, and EV certificates. Additional security-related services include
XServer Site Security,
CloudSecure WAF,
CloudSecure SSL, and WordPress-focused protection tools.
A major corporate development took place on
October 1, 2025, when Shin Cloud Inc. and Netowl Inc. services were integrated into XServer Inc. This brought services such as Shin Rental Server, Shin Domain, Shin VPS, Star Rental Server, Star Domain, SSL BOX, Star Server, and registrar operations into a more centralized XServer structure. This makes XServer more than a single shared-hosting brand; they now operate as a broad Japanese hosting, cloud, domain, security, and web infrastructure group.
Their services are primarily oriented toward the Japanese market. The website and customer environment are mainly in
Japanese, and pricing is listed in
Japanese yen (JPY). This makes XServer especially attractive for Japan-based businesses, Japanese-language websites, domestic agencies, bloggers, and companies targeting Japanese visitors.

OnamaeOnamae.com is one of Japan’s best-known domain and hosting brands, operated by
GMO Internet, Inc. within the larger
GMO Internet Group. The service has a strong domain-registrar identity and a long operating history, beginning in
1999 as Japan’s first ICANN-accredited registrar. Today, Onamae.com works as a large Japanese domain platform with roughly
630 domain types and more than
42 million domain registration records.
The company is best understood as a
domain-first hosting ecosystem rather than only a traditional web hosting provider. Their services cover
domain registration,
domain transfer,
domain renewal,
rental server / shared hosting,
VPS KVM,
business email,
mail marketing,
DNS management,
SSL certificates,
WHOIS privacy,
domain protection,
domain forwarding,
used / premium domains, and
AI-assisted WordPress site creation. Dedicated servers and colocation are not a central part of the Onamae.com product lineup, so customers needing physical server leasing or rack space may need another GMO service or a different infrastructure provider.
The
Rental Server service is the main shared-hosting product. It is designed for WordPress users, small business websites, affiliate sites, and general corporate websites. The plan includes
1TB SSD storage, unlimited transfer, unlimited multi-domain hosting, unlimited subdomains, unlimited email accounts, free unlimited AlphaSSL, WAF, WordPress easy installation, WordPress migration support, WordPress staging / test environment functions, 14-day automatic backups with free restoration, and WEXAL-based AI acceleration. It also includes practical hosting tools such as access logs, file manager, FTP, SSH, phpMyAdmin, cron, PHP configuration, redirect settings, .htaccess management, and support for multiple PHP versions.
The
VPS KVM range is more technical and gives customers a virtual server environment with KVM virtualization, Linux support, SSD storage, and scalable server resources. The VPS service includes administrative features such as snapshots, remote console, serial console, ISO upload, OS reinstall, reverse DNS settings, resource graphs, SSH key management, operation logs, and multi-VPS management. This makes it suitable for developers and system administrators who want more control than shared hosting can provide while staying inside the Onamae.com account ecosystem.
Onamae.com also offers
Onamae Mail, an independent-domain email service with unlimited email addresses, SSL, virus checking, spam filtering, webmail, smartphone/PC use, and Japanese domestic server operation. Their
Mail Marketing service supports HTML email creation, drag-and-drop editing, multipart delivery, API use, and unlimited delivery volume within the monthly service model. For customers who want a quick website, the
AI Homepage Pack combines WordPress hosting with AI-assisted site structure, design selection, content creation, image generation / image selection, and a simplified setup flow.
The website is mainly available in
Japanese, while corporate GMO information is also available in
English. Product pricing is shown primarily in
Japanese yen (JPY). This makes Onamae.com especially natural for Japan-based users, Japanese-language businesses, and customers who want domain, DNS, hosting, email, and WordPress tools under one domestic provider.

Lolipop.jpLolipop! Rental Server is one of the long-running names in the Japanese hosting market. The service dates back to
2001, is operated by
GMO Pepabo, and has grown into a mass-market platform with a very large domestic user base. It is built first and foremost for Japan: the storefront, help system, account flow, and support environment are essentially
Japanese-only, and prices are shown in
JPY. That makes it convenient locally, but much less practical for customers who need English-language support or international onboarding.
The core business is still
shared hosting, and that remains the heart of the platform. The main lineup includes
Economy,
Light,
Standard,
High-Speed, and
Enterprise plans. The lower tier is suitable for
email hosting and small static websites, while the mid-range and upper tiers move into
WordPress hosting, business use, higher database limits, faster server stack, and stronger support access. The step from the regular plans to the higher plans is meaningful, because the premium end uses a faster web stack and is clearly designed for heavier WordPress use rather than only hobby sites.
Lolipop is broader than a basic low-cost host, though it is not a classic provider with a full ladder of shared hosting, VPS, and dedicated servers. Alongside the standard hosting service, they also offer
Lolipop! Managed Cloud,
Lolipop! Fixed IP Access,
game server hosting,
SSL products, email functions, backup options, WordPress tools, and site creation utilities. That gives the company a wider service footprint than many simple beginner hosts, even though the platform still feels most natural for small websites, blogs, online shops, and domestic business pages.
One of the stronger aspects of the service is usability. The platform is clearly designed for people who want to launch a website quickly rather than manage infrastructure in depth. Features such as
easy WordPress installation, browser-based FTP access, free SSL, WAF protection, email functions, migration tools, and simple account management make it attractive for non-technical users. At the same time, the higher plans include enough technical flexibility to keep freelancers and small agencies interested.

XreaXREA is a long-running Japanese shared hosting service operated by
GMO DigiRock (digirock.co.jp), within the wider
GMO Internet Group (group.gmo) ecosystem. The service dates back to
August 2001, which makes it one of Japan’s older free and low-cost hosting brands. Its main attraction is simple: users can start with a free hosting account, then move to an affordable paid plan when they need more storage, no ads, and fewer limits.
XREA is not a broad hosting provider with VPS, dedicated servers, or colocation under the XREA brand itself. Its focus is
Shared Hosting,
Free Web Hosting,
Low-Cost Paid Hosting,
Email Hosting,
Backup Space,
MySQL / MariaDB,
PostgreSQL,
SSL,
SSH,
FTP over SSL,
Python,
Ruby,
Perl,
PHP,
WordPress, and domain-based website/email hosting. For larger or higher-performance needs, GMO DigiRock also operates related brands such as
CORESERVER and
Value Server.
The main plans are
XREA Free,
XREA Plus, and
Mail & Backup.
XREA Free includes 10 GB web space, 5 GB/day transfer, WordPress support, Python, chat support, ads, and backup.
XREA Plus increases the offer to 200 GB storage, unlimited transfer under fair-use conditions, no ads, cron support, more databases, more domains, and a 10-day trial.
Mail & Backup is aimed at users who mainly need mailboxes and backup capacity, with 100 GB storage, unlimited mail accounts, mailing lists, and a 10-day trial.
The service is best suited for Japanese users, hobby projects, small business websites, blogs, testing environments, and low-cost web publishing. It is less suitable for customers needing English-first support, root access, unmanaged VPS, dedicated hardware, enterprise SLAs, or full phone support.
The website and service experience are mainly
Japanese-language, and all pricing is in
Japanese yen (JPY).

Sakura.ne.jpSAKURA internet Inc. is a long-established Japanese hosting, cloud, and data center company founded on
December 23, 1996, incorporated on
August 17, 1999, and led by founder, President, and CEO
Kunihiro Tanaka. The company is headquartered in Osaka, Japan, and operates as a public company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market under securities code
3778. With nearly
1,000 consolidated employees as of March 2025, Sakura Internet is much larger and more infrastructure-oriented than a typical shared hosting provider.
Their service range covers almost the entire hosting stack:
shared hosting,
business hosting,
managed server hosting,
email hosting,
domains,
DNS,
SSL certificates,
VPS,
Windows VPS,
cloud servers,
dedicated bare-metal servers,
GPU cloud,
CDN,
colocation / housing,
hybrid private connectivity, and IoT connectivity. This makes Sakura a good fit for users who want to start with a small website and later move into VPS, cloud, dedicated servers, or colocated infrastructure without changing provider.
For standard website hosting,
SAKURA Web Hosting includes Light, Standard, Business, and Business Pro plans. The Standard plan is the most natural entry point for WordPress users, while Business and Business Pro are better suited to multi-user management, larger sites, and business email needs. Business Pro also adds a dedicated web IP address. Their mailbox and business mail products are separated clearly, with Business Mail adding a dedicated sending IP and modern email authentication support such as SPF, DKIM, ARC, and DMARC.
For infrastructure users,
SAKURA VPS and
SAKURA VPS for Windows Server provide traditional self-managed VPS environments, while
SAKURA Cloud is their domestic Japanese IaaS cloud platform. Dedicated Server PHY adds physical bare-metal hosting with fast provisioning, private network flexibility, and on-site hardware maintenance. Sakura also operates housing / colocation services, making them particularly strong for Japanese businesses that need domestic data residency, private network design, or a mix of cloud and physical servers.
The company’s website is primarily Japanese for product purchasing and technical support, with English corporate information also available. Prices are shown mainly in
Japanese yen, tax included, and the services are clearly focused on Japan-based customers, Japanese businesses, developers, and organizations that require infrastructure inside Japan.
Sakura Internet also operates within a wider corporate group that includes companies such as Gehirn, SAKURA Mobile, ITM, bitstar, IzumoBASE, BBSakura Networks, and Tellus. This gives the company a broader technology profile beyond classic web hosting, including security, mobile, network, cloud, and data platform activities.

Dream.jpDream.jp operates under
Dream Train Internet Inc. (DTI), one of Japan’s long-established internet service providers, founded on
October 26, 1995. The company is based in Tokyo and belongs to
FreeBit Co., Ltd. (freebit.com), which gives Dream.jp a stronger ISP, telecom, and network-services background than a typical web hosting brand.
Dream.jp is best understood as a Japanese connectivity and internet-services provider rather than a modern shared hosting company. Its active service mix is focused on
fiber internet,
mobile/SIM services,
WiMAX,
email,
online storage, and legacy server-related services. For hosting customers, the most relevant services are
ServersMan@VPS,
ServersMan@Disk,
UbicName, and
Ubic mail.
The main limitation is that
ServersMan@VPS is no longer open as a normal VPS product for new signups. Older Entry, Standard, Pro, and Petit VPS plans ended in October 2025, while the later Basic 1GB and Basic 2GB VPS plans also have new applications closed. Existing users may still associate Dream.jp with inexpensive Japanese VPS hosting, but new customers should not treat it as an actively sold VPS provider today.
Historically,
ServersMan@VPS was a self-managed Linux VPS platform with root access, fixed global IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, OS templates, DNS integration through UbicName, and optional backup use with ServersMan@Disk. Some legacy VPS plans allowed a choice between
Tokyo and
Osaka, while the Basic plans used
AlmaLinux 8 and included common server components such as Apache, PHP, Perl, MariaDB, and WordPress templates.
Dream.jp also keeps value through
ServersMan@Disk, an online storage product for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iPhone, iPad, and browser access. It supports file synchronization, file sharing, public links, access tickets, password controls, download limits, expiration dates, notifications, trash recovery, and file history. This is more of a cloud storage and backup product than a web hosting platform.
For domain and email functions,
UbicName allows customers to use domains with DTI services, while
Ubic mail provides an additional DTI mailbox or a way to keep a DTI email address after cancelling another DTI plan. Ubic mail includes 5GB mailbox capacity, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, SSL mail access, SMTP authentication, webmail through MyMail, spam filtering, forwarding, virus checking, whitelist/blocking options, and folder sorting.
The service environment is strongly Japan-focused. The website is mainly in
Japanese, prices are in
Japanese yen (JPY), and products are generally built for domestic customers rather than international hosting buyers.

iij.ad.jpInternet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) is one of Japan’s most important Internet infrastructure companies and one of the country’s historic Internet pioneers. The company was established on
December 3, 1992, became
Internet Initiative Japan Inc. in 1993, and is widely recognized as Japan’s first commercial Internet service provider.
Koichi Suzuki is connected with the company as founder and remains a central leadership figure as Chairman and Co-CEO. IIJ is headquartered in Tokyo and operates as a major listed Japanese technology group on the
Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market under ticker
3774.
IIJ is not a simple low-cost shared hosting provider. Their strongest profile is enterprise-grade Internet infrastructure, combining
Internet connectivity,
WAN,
cloud infrastructure,
data center services,
managed network services,
security,
systems integration,
DNS,
domains,
SSL certificates,
CDN,
email platforms,
colocation, and
managed cloud. As of March 31, 2025, IIJ had
5,221 employees on a consolidated basis and
2,971 employees on a non-consolidated basis, with a workforce strongly focused on engineering and technical operations.
For hosting customers, IIJ fits best in the corporate, government, institutional, ISP, and enterprise segment. Their services are appropriate for organizations that need reliable Japanese infrastructure, managed security, private cloud, hybrid cloud, dedicated resources, data center presence, DNS resilience, CDN, and operational support. Customers looking only for a cheap cPanel shared hosting account may find IIJ too advanced and enterprise-oriented, but businesses needing infrastructure depth will find a mature and highly credible provider.
Their web hosting lineup includes
IIJ Cloud Web Hosting Service,
IIJ Web Standard 2, and
IIJ Web High-Grade 2.
IIJ Cloud Web Hosting runs on the in-house
IIJ GIO cloud platform and gives each customer an independent virtual server, which helps avoid the resource contention often found in classic shared hosting. It includes firewall and virus scanning as standard, supports staging environments, and can be expanded with WAF, DDoS protection, web tampering detection, CDN, DNS, SSL certificate management, and web operation support.
IIJ Web Standard 2 is closer to traditional business web hosting for unique-domain websites, with a web interface for file management, account settings, and log access.
IIJ Web High-Grade 2 is the more advanced managed hosting option, designed for secure and highly available websites that need redundant infrastructure, SSL support, DDoS protection, and 24-hour incident support.
The broader cloud catalog is built around
IIJ GIO. The main Japanese enterprise cloud line includes
IIJ GIO Infrastructure P2 Gen.2, a domestic VMware-based hosted private cloud service designed for companies migrating on-premise workloads into cloud while keeping familiar VMware operations. IIJ also offers
IIJ GIO Infrastructure P2,
IIJ GIO Power-i, managed database services, backup services, monitoring and operation management, cloud exchange, Microsoft/AWS/Google cloud connectivity, IoT-related services, and global cloud options in the
United States,
Europe,
Singapore, and
China.
IIJ also has a strong position for service providers. Their service-provider portfolio includes dedicated Internet access, broadband access, WAN services, cloud exchange, IPsec VPN, remote access, SD-WAN, colocation, and data center services. This makes them suitable not only for companies hosting their own websites, but also for ISPs, CATV operators, SaaS providers, and enterprise IT departments building larger network architectures.
The website is available in
Japanese and
English, while the most detailed price menus are generally Japanese-first. Pricing is mainly in
Japanese Yen, and many enterprise services use a quotation or application process instead of a simple retail checkout.

kagoya.jpKagoya Japan Inc. is a long-established Japanese hosting and infrastructure company headquartered in
Kyoto. The company has unusually deep roots, beginning from a family business history that goes back to
1927, later moving into gas equipment, Internet access, and rental server services before becoming Kagoya Japan Inc. in 2002. Today, Kagoya operates as a serious Japanese provider of hosting, cloud, VPS, managed servers, email, colocation, and data center services.
Their strongest identity is domestic Japanese infrastructure combined with managed-service experience. Kagoya is not simply a budget VPS provider; they cover a broad infrastructure portfolio that includes
KAGOYA CLOUD VPS,
VPS Windows Server,
FLEX Cloud Server,
FLEX Bare Metal Server,
Private Cloud Suite,
Private GPU Cloud,
SX-Aurora TSUBASA Cloud,
Quantum Annealing,
DC+ colocation,
KAGOYA MAIL,
KAGOYA Internet Routing rental servers,
WordPress dedicated servers,
desknet’s NEO dedicated servers, domains, SSL certificates, backup, endpoint security, and business communication tools.
For traditional hosting customers,
KAGOYA Internet Routing is the most relevant product line. It is closer to a managed dedicated-server service than a basic shared-hosting package. Plans include dedicated resources, WordPress installation, free SSL, multi-domain use, unlimited transfer, databases, mail capacity, backup functions, security features such as WAF and IPS, SSH, SFTP, Git support, and fixed IP availability. This makes the service more suitable for business hosting, agencies, and professional sites than for very small hobby projects.
For cloud and VPS users,
KAGOYA CLOUD VPS is a practical Japanese VPS platform with Linux and Windows Server options. Linux VPS plans use NVMe SSD storage, KVM virtualization, OS and application templates, scaling options, snapshots, load balancer options, additional IP options, and an in-house control panel. Windows VPS adds licensed Windows Server environments for customers who need RDP access, Windows applications, or Microsoft-compatible server workloads.
Kagoya’s cloud platform is broader than what is usually found at a standard hosting company.
FLEX Cloud Server is designed for virtual dedicated server use with redundant infrastructure, while
FLEX Bare Metal Server provides physical dedicated machines with administrative control and predictable monthly pricing. For enterprise, research, AI, and high-performance computing environments, their private cloud, GPU cloud, SX-Aurora TSUBASA, and quantum annealing services give Kagoya a more advanced infrastructure profile than most conventional web hosting providers.
The service ecosystem is mainly Japanese-language, and pricing is listed in
Japanese yen (JPY). This works very well for Japan-based companies, agencies, universities, public-sector projects, and domestic business customers, while international users should be comfortable with Japanese-language support, contracts, billing, and documentation.

conoha.jpConoHa is a Japan-focused hosting brand operated by
GMO Internet, Inc., part of the wider
GMO Internet Group. The brand has been active since
2013, while GMO Internet, Inc. has roots going back to
1999. ConoHa is best understood as a Japanese cloud and hosting platform with strong coverage across
shared hosting,
WordPress hosting,
VPS,
Windows VPS,
game servers,
object storage,
mail hosting,
database services,
SSL, and newer AI-related services.
Their most visible hosting product is
ConoHa WING, a fast shared and WordPress hosting platform designed for blogs, company websites, and small business projects. It includes
free SSL, automatic backups, WordPress setup tools, migration support, SSD storage, nginx acceleration, WAF protection, PHP switching, email functions, and a proprietary control panel. WING Pack contracts also include free domain benefits, making the package attractive for users who want hosting and domains under one account.
ConoHa VPS is aimed at developers, administrators, and businesses needing flexible virtual servers in Japan. It supports Linux VPS plans, OS templates, application templates, startup scripts, ISO image installation, object storage, database servers, mail servers, API access, and Terraform integration. Ready-made environments such as
KUSANAGI, WordPress, LAMP, and other templates help reduce deployment time.
ConoHa for Windows Server covers Windows VPS requirements, including Remote Desktop use, Windows Server environments, Microsoft Office options, and workloads that require a Windows-based infrastructure.
ConoHa for GAME is one of their strongest niche products, with game-server templates for titles such as
Minecraft, Palworld, ARK, Rust, 7 Days to Die, Core Keeper, Terraria, FiveM, and
Enshrouded. This makes ConoHa particularly useful for Japanese gamers and communities that want a quick game-server launch without manual server setup.
ConoHa also includes AI-oriented services such as
ConoHa AI Canvas, based on Stable Diffusion XL image-generation environments, and
ConoHa Pencil, an AI writing tool. These services extend the brand beyond classic hosting into creator, content, and AI-assisted web workflows.
Traditional
bare-metal dedicated servers and
colocation hosting are not a major part of ConoHa’s current offer. Their strongest areas are shared hosting, VPS, Windows VPS, game hosting, object storage, mail/database add-ons, and cloud-style self-service infrastructure.

CPICPI is a long-established Japanese business hosting provider operated by KDDI Web Communications Inc. The company was established in
1987, entered the hosting market in
1997, became a consolidated KDDI subsidiary in October 2007, and adopted its present corporate name in 2008. It has approximately 215 employees, including temporary staff, and has served more than 40,000 corporate customers during its operating history.
The company concentrates primarily on Japanese organizations rather than the international mass market. Its customer base includes private businesses, public institutions, universities, web-development agencies, and other organizations that require infrastructure in Japan, Japanese technical assistance, formal service guarantees, and centralized website and email administration.
CPI is also a registered telecommunications operator, a JPNIC member, and a JPRS-designated domain provider. This background gives the company a more substantial technical and corporate profile than a typical low-cost shared hosting brand.
The present product range is more concentrated than CPI’s historical catalog. New customers can mainly choose between
Business Standard shared hosting and the standalone
KWC Mail service. Domain registration, domain transfers, DNS hosting, SSL certificates, backups, CDN access, malware monitoring, email-security tools, and migration assistance complement these core services.
Applications for the older CHM-2Z managed dedicated server and CHP-S root-access dedicated server ended on February 5, 2025. CPI no longer provides a new VPS, cloud server, reseller hosting, colocation, or dedicated-server option through its regular ordering catalog. The company is therefore best suited to organizations that need managed shared hosting and business email rather than root access, custom operating systems, or flexible virtual infrastructure.
Business Standard combines website hosting, business email, DNS management, security tools, backups, and deployment features within a single business-oriented service. The primary website receives
300GB of SSD web storage and 200GB of email storage.
Customers can connect as many as ten additional domains. Each additional domain receives an independent environment with 100GB of web storage and 100GB of email capacity. A single contract can therefore accommodate the main website and ten separate additional websites.
This multi-domain structure is particularly useful for businesses operating several corporate sites, product brands, regional websites, or campaign domains. Web-development agencies can also manage multiple customer projects without placing every website inside the same shared directory structure.
CPI separates the web server, mail server, and control-panel infrastructure. This reduces the likelihood that heavy website traffic or a problem affecting one service will interfere with the others. It also creates a clearer division between website operation, email administration, and general account management.
The hosting environment includes RAID10 storage, HTTP/2, SFTP, encrypted FTP connections, IP-based FTP restrictions, SSH key authentication, Git, cron jobs, WAF protection, access logs, error logs, and AWStats traffic statistics. Free domain-validated SSL certificates are included for supported domains.
The development platform supports PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite. WordPress and EC-CUBE installers make it easier to deploy common content-management and e-commerce applications, although customers remain responsible for maintaining their applications, plugins, themes, and custom code.
One of CPI’s most useful features is
SmartRelease. It provides a staging environment that closely matches the production environment, allowing websites to be tested before changes are released publicly.
SmartRelease supports one-click deployment between the testing and production environments, automated backups, manual backup creation, and self-service restoration. This is considerably safer than modifying a live corporate website directly through FTP.
The standard SmartRelease backup covers up to 10GB of website and database content and retains as many as 30 backup generations. The system is practical for web agencies, internal development teams, and organizations that need a controlled website-release process.
Business Standard email accounts include
virus filtering, spam detection, STARTTLS, SMTP authentication, encrypted POP, encrypted IMAP, encrypted SMTP, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, ARC, forwarding, autoresponders, mailing lists, and browser-based webmail.
Storage can be assigned separately to each mailbox in allocations of 1GB, 2GB, 5GB, 10GB, 20GB, 50GB, or 100GB. This allows administrators to give larger quotas to departments or employees that retain extensive email archives without allocating the same capacity to every user.
The primary domain includes 200GB of total email capacity. Additional storage can be purchased in 100GB increments, with a maximum expansion of another 800GB. A fully expanded Business Standard email environment can therefore reach 1TB.
KWC Mail was introduced in August 2025 as a standalone business email platform. It allows companies to use CPI’s mail infrastructure without moving their website hosting to CPI.
The service begins with 100GB of email storage and can be expanded to a total of 1TB. When each mailbox receives the minimum 1GB allocation, the standard capacity can support up to 100 email accounts.
KWC Mail uses the same geographically redundant KDDI email platform as Business Standard. It includes SPF, DKIM, DMARC, ARC, spam filtering, virus scanning, encrypted mail protocols, webmail, forwarding, autoresponders, and mailing lists.
This makes KWC Mail practical for organizations that host their websites elsewhere but prefer to keep corporate email on Japanese infrastructure. Customers must have access to editable DNS records, either through CPI’s DNS service or another DNS provider.
Some Business Standard options are not available with KWC Mail. These include Active! mail, Active! gate, and the paid 24-hour support package. KWC Mail also does not receive the same SLA coverage as the primary Business Standard web server.
CPI’s supporting services are extensive. Customers can register and transfer Japanese and international domain names, use managed DNS services, purchase commercial SSL certificates, add secondary backups, activate website-malware monitoring, use CDN delivery, expand email capacity, and request migration assistance.
Its DNS service supports website records, mail records, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and connections to external email or productivity platforms. This is helpful for organizations using a combination of CPI hosting and third-party cloud applications.
Free CPI DV SSL is included with Business Standard. Commercial certificates are available when an organization requires extended validation, organizational validation, or another specific certificate type.
The optional external backup service provides another recovery layer beyond SmartRelease. It takes copies every three days and retains up to three generations. This can be useful for customers who need backups stored separately from the primary website environment.
The website-change and malware-monitoring option checks for unauthorized modifications and malicious content. This adds a useful layer of protection for WordPress sites, corporate websites, and older applications that may be exposed to plugin or software vulnerabilities.
CPI also provides a CDN option for organizations with heavier traffic or distributed audiences. The relatively high starting price makes this service more appropriate for established business websites than small personal projects.
A serious email-security incident was confirmed in July 2026. Unauthorized access affected CPI’s email service, and email-account information associated with Business Standard and KWC Mail was exposed.
Passwords for these two current services were stored as hashes, and CPI had not confirmed exposure of plain-text passwords. However, the incident still required a broad credential-reset process.
On July 21, 2026, affected accounts that had not changed their passwords between June 18 and July 20 were forcibly reset. Customers then had to replace the stored passwords in email applications, mobile devices, multifunction printers, scanners, monitoring platforms, and any other business systems using those credentials.
The forced password reset was an appropriate containment measure, but the incident remains an important consideration for companies evaluating CPI primarily for email hosting. Organizations should use unique passwords, tightly control administrative access, maintain an inventory of devices connected to each mailbox, and establish a documented credential-rotation procedure.
CPI’s product website, account systems, manuals, and support resources are primarily in
Japanese. KDDI Web Communications maintains an English corporate profile, but CPI is not structured as a fully English-language hosting platform.
Prices are displayed in
Japanese yen and include Japanese consumption tax. The website has a modern responsive design and works properly on desktop computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
