CORESERVER is a Japanese shared/rental hosting brand operated by GMO DigiRock, Inc. (digirock.co.jp), part of the wider GMO Internet Group (group.gmo). The company traces its operating history to July 2001, was incorporated in April 2004, and launched the CoreServer service in August 2007. GMO DigiRock’s wider ecosystem includes domain registration, rental servers, access analytics, server OEM activity, and related hosting brands.

CoreServer is mainly a high-performance shared hosting platform rather than a VPS or dedicated-server provider. The current product line is divided into two major generations: V1 plans and newer V2 plans. The V2 line — CORE-X, CORE-Y, and CORE-Z — is the more modern option, using LiteSpeed, NVMe SSD RAID10, stronger resource allocation, free SSL, WordPress auto-installation, HTTP/3 support, backups, and security features such as Imunify360. These plans are suitable for WordPress sites, business websites, EC sites, and users who want better speed and stability than a basic budget shared host.

The V1 line — CORE-MINI, CORE-A, CORE-B, and CORE-C — remains the more traditional Apache-based shared hosting family. These plans still include SSD storage, WordPress support, free SSL, email, databases, and backups, but the architecture is closer to conventional shared hosting. CORE-MINI has tighter limits, while CORE-A/B/C expand into unlimited domains, mail accounts, and databases.

Domains are handled through Value Domain, the domain-registration platform in the same GMO DigiRock ecosystem. This is important because CoreServer hosting, domain registration, DNS, and SSL management work naturally together. V2 hosting can also include one permanently free eligible domain per server, including extensions such as .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, and .jp.

SSL coverage is strong for a low-cost Japanese host. Let’s Encrypt certificates are free and can be managed from the CoreServer control panel, while paid SSL options include AlphaSSL, .shop SSL, and GlobalSign corporate SSL. Related GMO DigiRock services such as Value Server and XREA serve nearby market segments, but CoreServer is the higher-performance shared-hosting line.

The platform is clearly oriented toward Japan. The public website is in Japanese, the terms require users to understand Japanese, and applications may be refused where the applicant is not resident in Japan or does not have a base in Japan. For Japanese users, agencies, and businesses targeting Japan, this is a practical and cost-efficient hosting environment. For international users who require English-language support or a globally marketed VPS/cloud product, it is less suitable.
