😠 Account rejected without explanation
Account rejected without explanation - No transparency whatsoever.
I attempted to open an account with Hetzner as a freelance web developer managing over 200 domains and server infrastructure for my clients. I was seriously considering Hetzner as my primary hosting provider.
The result? My account was rejected citing "suspicious information" - but they absolutely refuse to specify what information raised concerns or what I could do to address it.
Their Customer Data Analytics team sent a generic response stating they "do not share details about why certain accounts appear suspicious." This policy effectively denies legitimate business owners any opportunity to correct errors or address misunderstandings.
I successfully maintain accounts with Hostinger, XCloud, Vultr, and other reputable providers without any issues. I operate transparently and in full compliance with all policies.

😁 After passing the identity tests to confirm that you are not an abuser, you get one of the best bargains in Europe with generous resource quotas per €, I must thank them for the opportunity to host my personal website comfortably because, I'm not in a strong financial position!
If you need more than one IPv4 it's going add a lot to the monthly cost, though. Not my case.

😠 They closed my account after I opened within 12 hours I didn't get a chance to find out my account Number or ID to put them here, because I put different name on my account and the name is my website, So they noticed some suspicious information in my account, so I will expect at any moment to stop my services for a specific reason, this is a very strict policy that you stop my site as soon as I wrote the name of my site upon registration, it is necessary That there is a stage if I do not respond, so you have the right to stop the service.
I have been seriously mistaken when I trusted them to leave my website without a backup copy and currently I do not have a copy and try to communicate with them, but there is no point where there is no one who holds them accountable for this.
They did not allow me to make a backup copy of my site despite that, that is, a stupid policy, that they are wrong with what they do with their judgment on us.

Hetzner is a privately owned German hosting and infrastructure company established in 1997 by Martin Hetzner. The owner-led business operates primarily through Hetzner Online GmbH in Gunzenhausen, Bavaria, Germany, with Hetzner Finland Oy supporting its Finnish operations. Its development from a small server reseller into one of Europe’s large data-center operators helps explain the breadth of the current platform: low-cost services sit on top of self-operated European facilities, a substantial private network, and an expanding international cloud footprint.
Martin Hetzner initially resold server capacity located in the United States. The company rented its first data-center space in Nuremberg in 2001 and had reached approximately 200,000 hosted domains and 20,000 servers by 2008. Its first company-owned park opened at Falkenstein in 2009. A second park followed in Nuremberg in 2012 on a 40,000-square-meter property designed to accommodate as many as ten data centers; at that point, the operation had about 60,000 servers and 140 employees.
Expansion into Finland was planned from 2015 and supported by the 1,100-kilometer C-Lion1 submarine cable, which entered operation in 2016 with a design capacity of 120 Tbit/s. The company introduced its cloud platform in 2018 and exceeded 100,000 instances during the first year. International cloud locations opened in Ashburn, Virginia in 2021, Hillsboro, Oregon in 2022, and Singapore in 2024. By 2025, Hetzner had passed one million active cloud instances and 500,000 server units and had joined the EMAS environmental-management system. In 2026, the group employed more than 450 people while remaining privately controlled.
The catalog spans Dedicated Servers, Cloud, Web Hosting, Managed Servers, Colocation, Object Storage, Storage Box, Storage Share, Load Balancers, Domain Registration, DNS, and SSL Certificates. The main site supports English and German, with product values available in EUR and USD. Its responsive interface separates the major service families into detailed configurators, while documentation, more than 350 tutorials, community discussions, and live system status occupy dedicated platforms.
Dedicated hosting covers EX, AX, RX, SX, GPU, and DX systems, supplemented by a server finder and an auction for older or previously used hardware. Representative EX models include EX44, EX63, and EX131. Processor choices range from an Intel Core i5-13500 or Core Ultra 7 265 to a Xeon Gold 6731P. Memory starts at 64 GB DDR4 and reaches 256 GB registered DDR5 ECC, depending on the configuration. NVMe storage ranges from two 512 GB devices to four 7.68 TB data-center-class drives. Standard network access is 1 Gbit/s, while selected higher systems can use a 10 Gbit/s uplink.
Linux can be installed automatically, and customers may instead use Windows Server 2025, a VNC-based custom installation, or an optional Webmin LAMP environment. The dedicated management layer includes hardware monitoring, reset and rescue functions, image installation, reverse DNS, firewall rules, and vSwitch networking. IPv4 connectivity and a /64 IPv6 allocation are included. Standard ports generally carry unlimited traffic; the optional 10 Gbit/s uplink has separate traffic conditions. Basic assistance covers defective-hardware replacement and reinstallation of the base system, not ongoing application administration.
The cloud portfolio distinguishes shared-vCPU instances for development, testing, and moderate production workloads from dedicated-vCPU General Purpose machines for sustained compute use, busy databases, machine learning, and high-traffic applications. Core functions include private networks, stateful firewalls, snapshots, backups, block volumes, one-click applications, and load balancing. A REST API and command-line client support automation, with integrations for Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes. Cloud capacity is available in Germany, Finland, the United States, and Singapore.
The load-balancing service supports TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, and HTTP/2, with TLS termination or pass-through, active and passive health checks, Round Robin and Least Connections algorithms, private-network attachment, and targets drawn from both cloud and dedicated servers. Three load-balancer sizes progress from five services, 25 targets, and ten SSL certificates to 30 services, 150 targets, and 50 certificates; each includes 20 TB of traffic in the applicable regions. A Kubernetes controller allows clusters to provision these resources without manual console work.
Shared Web Hosting uses S, M, L, and XL packages on German servers. S includes 10 GB storage, one database, one cron job, two PHP processes, 192 MB of PHP memory, and Varnish. M increases this to 50 GB, five databases, five cron jobs, five PHP processes, and 256 MB. L supplies 100 GB, 20 databases, ten cron jobs, ten PHP processes, and 384 MB, and adds Redis, SSH, and Node.js. XL reaches 300 GB, 50 databases, 20 cron jobs, 20 PHP processes, and 512 MB, with telephone support added at this level.
All four shared tiers include unlimited mailboxes, TLS-protected mail transport, spam filtering, virus scanning, SSL, daily backups, and selectable PHP 5, 7, and 8 branches. The data layer supports MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and phpMyAdmin. WordPress has a one-click installer, and automatic DNS setup simplifies initial activation. Mail accounts can use CalDAV, CardDAV, and iCal in addition to webmail and ordinary SMTP access. Domains are purchased separately rather than automatically bundled with every package.
Managed hosting is divided into virtual MC30 and MC60 systems and dedicated MA80, MA130, and MA200 machines. The range starts at 16 GB RAM and 200 GB virtual storage and reaches 256 GB RAM with two 1.92 TB NVMe drives in RAID 1. Hetzner maintains a Debian-based stack with Apache, MariaDB, PHP, PostgreSQL, Redis, Exim, and Dovecot. It also installs operating-system and software updates, applies security maintenance, monitors the environment around the clock, and retains daily backups for seven or fourteen days according to package. Customers administer accounts and sites through konsoleH but do not receive root access. This model is materially different from an unmanaged VPS: system control is narrower in exchange for provider maintenance.
Storage products address several distinct workloads. Storage Box is a protocol-rich remote-storage service with 1 TB, 5 TB, 10 TB, and 20 TB capacities, unlimited traffic, ten simultaneous connections, up to 100 subaccounts, and between ten and forty snapshots. It accepts FTP, FTPS, SFTP, SCP, Samba, BorgBackup, Restic, Rclone, rsync, HTTPS, and WebDAV. Customers can place a box in Germany or Finland, making it useful for server backups, file exchange, and application archives.
Storage Share is a managed Nextcloud environment in Germany. Its 1 TB, 5 TB, and 10 TB configurations allow three, seven, or ten subdomains, unlimited users, and plan-specific simultaneous-connection limits of 50, 100, or 200. It includes groups, quotas, application support, SSL, a RAID-based backend, and several backups each day. Object Storage instead provides an S3-compatible interface for applications, analytics, backup, archiving, and digital assets. A customer can create up to 100 buckets, each holding as much as 100 TB, with object locking, object expiry, versioning, pre-signed URLs, and optional server-side encryption. Object Storage runs in Nuremberg, Falkenstein, and Helsinki.
Free authoritative DNS management is available through a graphical console and API, normally with up to 25 zones. Supported records include A, AAAA, CAA, CNAME, DS, HINFO, HTTPS, MX, NS, PTR, RP, SOA, SRV, SVCB, TLSA, and TXT. DNSSEC remains unavailable, which is a genuine limitation for organizations that require signed zones. SSL products come through DigiCert and the Thawte certificate family. The selection covers domain validation, organization validation, wildcard certificates, and extended validation, permits as many as ten SAN entries, and uses one-year terms. Domain-validated certificates can normally be issued in one day, while validated organization and EV products may take two to four weeks.
💰 Price & Cost
Hetzner’s pricing is highly competitive, but the final cost depends on VAT selection, setup fees, IP choices, traffic, and product-specific billing rules. With VAT set to zero, Web Hosting S cost €1.60 per month plus an €8.32 setup fee. M cost €4.12 monthly, L €8.32, and XL €16.72; each of those three carried a €4.12 setup fee. Domain registration started at €4.90 per year. At the dedicated end, the current server finder began at €59.00 per month, while auction inventory began at €60.70. Auction models and their prices change as hardware enters and leaves stock.
A CPX12 cloud instance configured in Helsinki with IPv6 only cost €11.49 per month and included 20 TB of EU traffic. Additional EU traffic cost €1 per TB. Cloud resources accrue hourly charges only up to their monthly caps, but shutting down a virtual server does not stop billing; deletion is required. Object Storage had a current base price of €6.49 per month, with extra storage at €6.26 per TB and additional outgoing traffic at €1 per TB. The free DNS platform and included stateful cloud firewalls reduce the number of separately billed essentials.
Payment choices include bank transfer, credit card, PayPal, and SEPA direct debit for eligible accounts in the SEPA area. Method availability can differ by service and customer country. Invoices are generally issued monthly, with cloud usage calculated hourly up to the cap; annual or semiannual advance billing is not the standard arrangement. Dedicated servers and several storage products have no minimum term and allow immediate cancellation. The general contract terms otherwise use 30 days’ notice to the end of a month unless the relevant service has a more specific rule.
A statutory withdrawal form is available, but this should not be confused with a broad hosting money-back promise. No current general money-back guarantee applies across the catalog (but under European Union law, when you buy goods or services online, by phone, or from a mail-order catalog, you have a 14-day cooling-off period to cancel your purchase for any reason without giving a justification). Prices are also subject to the applicable VAT rate, so the tax setting and billing country should be checked before comparing Hetzner against another provider.
🏢 Data Center
The core European platform uses company-owned data center parks in Nuremberg and Falkenstein, Germany, and Helsinki, Finland. International cloud capacity extends the platform to Ashburn, Virginia, Hillsboro, Oregon, and Singapore. The European parks combine redundant utility feeds, UPS systems, standby diesel generators, free-cooling designs, cold-aisle containment, raised floors, fire detection, electronic access control, perimeter protection, and continuous video surveillance. Qualified data-center technicians are on site 24 hours a day.
The Nuremberg, Falkenstein, and Helsinki hosting and data-center operations are covered by ISO/IEC 27001:2022. Renewable electricity powers the German and Finnish parks, and the wider environmental program includes EMAS participation. These are operationally meaningful controls, though they do not remove the need for customers to design their own geographic redundancy and restore procedures.
The principal network inventory totals 50.12 Tbit/s, divided into 10.79 Tbit/s of internet-exchange peering, 11.6 Tbit/s of transit, and 27.73 Tbit/s of private peering. Major exchange capacity includes 2.8 Tbit/s at DE-CIX and 800 Gbit/s at AMS-IX. Transit and private paths involve Lumen, NTT, GTT, and Cogent, among other carriers. The backbone uses Juniper routing equipment, and DDoS filtering is included.
The current colocation offer gives a 48 Tbit/s figure rather than the 50.12 Tbit/s total in the broader network inventory. This may reflect a narrower colocation scope or different update timing, but it is a real discrepancy that prospective colocation customers should confirm for the selected location. The three colocation formats are a 14U one-third rack, a minimum 42U basic rack, and a 47U advanced rack. Features include redundant A/B power feeds, 1 Gbit/s connectivity, two or ten TB of included transfer according to package, a free /56 IPv6 allocation, optional IPv4 subnets, continuous monitoring, and 24/7 physical access. New colocation orders are unavailable until further notice because cloud and bare-metal growth has consumed available capacity.
Dedicated and managed products carry a minimum 99.9% network-availability commitment. Cloud has a separate 99.9% SLA with service credits when the qualifying availability target is missed. This level is credible but less ambitious than the 99.99% commitments offered by some premium platforms, so multi-zone or application-level redundancy remains appropriate for critical workloads.
Backup coverage changes by service. Web hosting includes daily backups; managed servers keep daily copies for seven or fourteen days; Storage Share combines a RAID-based backend with several backups per day; and Storage Box offers scheduled snapshots. Unmanaged dedicated and cloud customers must create regular off-server backups themselves. They also remain responsible for operating-system security, application maintenance, and content. Cryptocurrency mining is prohibited.
✍️ Customer Support
General customer service, billing, sales, cloud assistance, web-hosting support, and managed-server support operate Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 18:00 CET. Dedicated-server and colocation technical desks in Nuremberg, Falkenstein, and Helsinki run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The German facilities support German and English, while Helsinki technical service is in English. This distinction matters: round-the-clock assistance is tied to data-center infrastructure, not to every billing or application question.
Telephone numbers are location-specific. General customer service uses the Gunzenhausen line; technical calls route separately to Nuremberg, Falkenstein, or Helsinki. Dedicated-server callers must activate a telephone password or generate a one-time password before account-related assistance can proceed. That authentication protects the account, but customers should prepare it before an urgent incident.
Other support paths include online requests, documentation, a community forum, the status portal, and more than 350 tutorials. Managed customers receive operating-system maintenance, software updates, monitoring, and platform security work. Cloud and root-server customers receive infrastructure, connectivity, and hardware assistance while retaining responsibility for their own software. Simple managed-service tasks may be included; work lasting 15 minutes or longer can be charged by prior agreement. The service boundary is therefore predictable, but inexpensive unmanaged systems are best suited to administrators who can diagnose their own application stack.
🔨 Control Panel
Dedicated servers use Robot, which brings together hardware resets, rescue mode, operating-system images, reverse DNS, monitoring, firewall rules, and vSwitch configuration. Cloud resources use the Cloud Console for servers, networks, volumes, snapshots, backups, firewalls, load balancers, and credentials. The REST API, command-line interface, Terraform integration, Ansible modules, and Kubernetes tooling provide strong automation options for larger deployments.
Web hosting and managed servers use konsoleH to manage domains, mailboxes, databases, applications, user accounts, and service settings. On managed systems, account-level access is intentional because Hetzner retains root control and maintains the base stack. DNS zones have their own DNS Console and API. cPanel and Plesk are not the default management layer, so customers migrating from those ecosystems should expect a different workflow.
🎯 Conclusion
Hetzner’s main advantage is the combination of price, infrastructure ownership, and technical breadth. Company-owned German and Finnish parks, a 50.12 Tbit/s network inventory, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 coverage, 24/7 facility-level technical support, mature automation, and a varied storage catalog give the service considerably more substance than its budget pricing might suggest. Dedicated servers are especially strong, while the cloud, managed LAMP range, and S3-compatible storage provide practical paths for mixed deployments. There are clear limits. Unmanaged products require experienced administration; powered-off cloud servers continue billing until deletion; domains and several other components are separately charged; DNSSEC is missing; the uptime target is 99.9% rather than a premium four-nines commitment; and new colocation orders are paused. Backup scope must also be understood before deployment. For developers, hosting businesses, and infrastructure teams able to manage their own systems, Hetzner remains a broad and cost-efficient choice. Customers who need operating-system administration should favor the managed range and accept its restricted, no-root control model.
