Nov 18, 2003 : BMC, Fujitsu Join DCML Organization
📅 - The Data Center Markup Language (DCML) Organization (dcml.org), an independent corporationformed to create a freely licensed data center language specification,said today that tech giants BMC Software Inc. and Fujitsu SiemensComputers had joined the DCML effort.
The organization also announced that representatives from the 37 companiesin the DCML Organization will hold the first working group session todayin San Francisco.
The aim of DCML is to provide a common language to enable data centerautomation, utility computing, and system management solutions.
"A cross-platform DCML specification will allow systems to exchangeinformation seamlessly across the data center, an imperative first step inthe march towards utility computing," said Ron Sheen, vice president ofengineering at the American subsidiary of Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Thisgoal coincides with our commitment to provide automated high availabilityand scalability to our customers. We endorse the DCML initiative as ameans of connecting these systems and helping customers save time andlower their IT costs."
The DCML initially launched inOctober with 25 major technology companies as members. Other memberorganizations include EDS, Opsware and Inkra Networks.
