📅 August 4, 2004 - Web host and IP solutions provider Verio (verio.com ) announced on Tuesday that the General Services Adminstration for the U.S. Law Library of Congress has selected the company to host the Global Legal Information Network.

The agreement is part of a larger $5.7 million contract awarded to Advanced Technology Systems Inc. The GLIN Web site will comprise of a multilingual database of laws, judicial decisions, legal writings and legislative records from countries in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia.
In an effort to meet the demands for online international legal research resources, Verio and ATS were contracted to expand the existing GLIN system. Verio will provide managed hosting, storage and security services, making the Law Library of Congress a highly available and secure infrastructure for its GLIN project.
Iniitially created to support GLIN's research and reference services and increase digital access to its collection of legal resources, the Law Library of Congress will provide research and legal information to Congress, the federal courts and executive branch agencies, as well as to act as a public resource.
