Aug 5, 2004 : Easy Internet Debuts SMS-Pay Web Host
📅 - UK-based Easy Internet Solutions (easy-internet.co.uk) announced on Wednesday that it has launched 99pHost (99phost.co.uk), a new Web hosting service the company says is the first to offer a short message service payment option. Customers who place their orders via SMS are provided with a six-letter order code which they can text message from their cell phones to Easy Internet Solutions' order line. SMS eliminates the need for a credit card to make online purchases.
"Paying for Web hosting services by SMS is great news for people who dislike using their credit cards online, or don't pay by plastic," says Mark Esho, managing director of Easy Internet Solutions. "Students, under 18s, and people with poor credit ratings stand to benefit from our system." The new 99pHost services includes 99MB of Web space, 999MB of bandwidth, 99 pop3 email accounts, 99 mailing lists, 99 FTP accounts, in addition to free Web site building tools.
