Aug 6, 2004 : Rackforce Adds to Data Center Power
📅 - Web hosting provider RackForce Hosting (rackforce.com) announced on Friday that it has added a second, fully redundant hydroelectric power feed and a 500KW diesel generator to its data center facility in Kelowna, British Columbia. The company said the new power feed will supplement RackForce's existing redundant diesel and UPS power backup systems.
"One of the reasons we initially located our dedicated hosting facility in this area was the abundance of clean, reliable power sources," says Tim Dufour, president and CEO of RackForce. "Access to dual hydro-utility grids is a rare occurrence and it made sense that we took advantage of this asset to ensure the reliability of our hosting services." RackForce said the continued concern over severe power outages spurred it to build additional redundancy into its power systems.
