Nov 22, 2005 : Novell Appoints VP and CTO


📅 - Open-source software distributor Novell (novell.com) announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Dr. Jeffrey Jaffe to executive vice president and chief technology officer. He will lead Novell's technology direction, as well as the company's product business units. Dr. Jaffe will report to Novell president and chief operating officer, Ron Hovsepian.


Dr. Jaffe brings more than 25 years of technology and business experience, serving in positions at both IBM and Lucent Technologies. As president of Bell Labs Research and Advanced Technologies at Lucent Technologies, he established new facilities in Ireland and India, and served as chairman of the board of the New Jersey Nanotechnology Consortium.

He has advised the United States government on multiple policy imperatives concerning technology. In 1997 he was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve on the Advisory Committee for the Presidential Commission for Critical Infrastructure Protection.
