📅 - Limelight Networks (limelightnetworks.com) announced on Wednesday that Microsoft (microsoft.com) would use the Limelight content delivery network for delivery of trailers and game demos during the launch of its online gaming subscription service Xbox Live.
With full implementation of Xbox Live on Limelight Networks' delivery network, millions of gamers will be provided with online access to games, content and downloads from both Microsoft and game developers, directly via Xbox Live, which has over 400 selections of downloadable content. The Xbox 360 gaming system was launched on November 22, 2005.
"With the launch of Xbox 360 we're taking Xbox Live to new heights," says Eric Neustadter, operations manager for Xbox Live. "Now that our customers can download game demos, high-definition movie trailers, and more, we need to be prepared for dramatic increases in traffic. Working with Limelight Networks allows us to easily scale to any level of demand."
