Dec 6, 2005 : VeriSign Installs Cluster in Australia

📅 December 6, 2005 - VeriSign (verisign.com) announced on Monday that it had installed a new regional server cluster for .com and .net domains in Sydney, Australia. The deployment went live on December 3, 2005.


The company says the new cluster will provide Australian Internet users with improved performance, connection speeds and stability.

"As Internet use in Australia continues to grow rapidly for both commerce and communications, we will continue to invest in our infrastructure and services in the region to support this strong growth," says Gregg Rowley, vice president of Asia-Pacific for VeriSign. "The close proximity of an Internet server cluster in Sydney for .com and .net will improve the Internet experience for the growing numbers of Australian Internet users and contribute to economic growth in Australia.

VeriSign operates 18 Internet server clusters around the world and announced plans earlier this year to install 14 regional clusters by the end of 2006. China, Korea and Australia were the first three installations. VeriSign says there will be an operational deployment in Brazil by the end of the year.
