According to a Thursday announcement by Rackspace's cloud division, Mosso, its flagship offering, Cloud Sites, is now officially the very first cloud hosting solution to pass both McAfee's PCI scans and Secure Site scans. This industry first comes after many commentators have deemed cloud hosting too insecure and unreliability for the demands of the credit card industry, as well as the further complication of its inherent use of third-party providers.
"We are making the Cloud business-ready," Mosso general manager Emil Sayegh said in a statement. "Online merchants, like The Spreadsheet Store can now benefit from the scalability of the Cloud without compromising the security of online transactions."
The Spreadsheet Store operations vice president Philip Murphy said he had set up The Spreadsheet Store site using secure payment gateway Authorize.Net and shopping cart solution aspdotnetstorefront, which is fully compatible with Mosso. The Spreadsheet Store can assure clients that no credit card information is stored on the servers. Murphy said he uses MaxMind for fraud prevention, Cardinal Commerce for MasterCard Secure Code and Verified by Visa, McAfee for PCI and daily vulnerability scans, and Thawte for SSL certification.
