👈 Official Responses: 0 -> ibm.com) has announced StorageLayer has reached 500TB of deployed network storage, a milestone helping it better deliver backup, disaster recovery and database replication services.
According to the Plano, Texas-based company's announcement Wednesday, StorageLayer's new network storage capacity will help drive further growth. Leveraging SoftLayer's infrastructure and expertise in automation when it launched in October 2007, StorageLayer offers automated backup, high availability and data replication services, all on-demand and fully accessible through SoftLayer's customer portal and API.
SoftLayer includes features as FTP and network-attached storage along with a long line of quickly expanding features. In late September, SoftLayer added advanced geographic replication via iSCSI storage, replication and snapshots, and EVault online disk backup to StorageLayer's features.
"We are very pleased by StorageLayer's growth and success this year," SoftLayer chief operating officer Sam Fleitman said in a statement. "We already have thousands of customers utilizing our portfolio of storage options. And we are committed to rolling out new storage features and solutions that will provide even higher levels of scalability and redundancy to solve our customers' most difficult business challenges."
Another key Wednesday announcement was that SoftLayer will soon release a cloud-based storage solution to be developed in partnership with industry-leading cloud and virtualization companies to offer virtually limitless scalability and let customers use and pay for storage in a flexible, on-demand fashion.
"Growth in the cloud-based storage market - both in terms of demand and the technology itself-has been enormous," said Mr. Fleitman. "It's well past the early adoption stage. This is a mainstream, mass-market technology that enterprises can rely on for exceptional benefits."
