👈 Official Responses: 0) has launched its cloud computing infrastructure FlexCloud, adding simple and affordable cloud computing functionality to all its standard hosting packages.

According to the company's Monday announcement, the first to benefit will be to Hostway's 400,000 North American customers' websites, which will be hosted on the new cloud computing infrastructure. All new customers' websites will also be placed on FlexCloud.

"The primary benefit of FlexCloud for business hosting clients is gaining access to a multi-million dollar hosting infrastructure that scales up and down at your command for as low as $15 per month," small business hosting senior vice president John Lee said in a statement. "The secondary benefit (for some this may be the primary benefit) is that Hostway has made it easy."

FlexCloud includes on-demand, automated allocation of CPU, memory, storage and bandwidth for individual websites, greater reliability through inherent redundant infrastructure architecture and deployment, and the same end-user features customers have come to expect from Hostway,

Because of the new allocation features, FlexCloud offers users "greener" functionality through the more efficient use of computing resources. This also allows users greater flexibility using Hostway's own scalable hosting framework, which can smoothly scale from small hosting packages up to large business hosting services.

While Hostway did not specify the technology behind its new cloud computing infrastructure, Hostway uses VMware's (vmware.com) server virtualization technology for its virtual dedicated servers, suggesting that Hostway may have incorporated the VMware platform into this offering.

As more details emerge about FlexCloud, it will become apparent whether it can compete with established cloud computing providers such as Rackspace's cloud computing division Mosso (mosso.com 👉 Total Reviews: 2
