(avocent.com), a leading provider of data center management equipment, announced on Wednesday that VeriCenter (vericenter.com), a leading provider of managed Web and application hosting services, has implemented Avocent's DS1800 KVM over IP technology for local and remote IP management of its data center servers.
According to Avocent, the company's DS1800 technology will allow VeriCenter to deploy systems rapidly, and will require a fraction of the cabling involved in a typical analog matrix solution for server management.
Avocent says that by deploying the technology, VeriCenter network administrators will be able to securely access and control data servers, regardless of their location, using Ethernet connectivity. VeriCenter says this has allowed the company to securely manage its customer environments from its network operation centers without the distance and space limitations of older technology.?
VeriCenter adds that since the installation, it has been impressed with the quality of support, as well as the minimal amount of hardware needed to set up the equipment. The company says it has already saved data center space, and can quickly add new customers that wish to use its OpCenter hosting services.
As a KVM over IP server management solution, Avocent's DS1800 uses existing network infrastructure to transmit KVM signals, rather than relying on proprietary KVM cabling. According to Avocent, the key features of the technology include virtually unlimited scalability, advanced security, and an easy to use GUI interface.
