Ixia, Extreme Networks Exhibit Wire-Speed Switching at CeBIT

📅 March 12, 2002 - Ixia (ixiacom.com), a provider of high-speed, multiportnetwork performance analysis and network monitoring systems, is beingshowcased in Extreme Networks Inc.'s (extremenetworks.com -> hostinger.com) booth atHanover's CeBIT exhibit (cebit.de).

Extreme Networks is using the capabilies of Ixia's Optixia, its largestperformance analysis platform with the highest port density, to transmittraffic through its core switching platform, the BlackDiamond 6816. Optixiaoffers up to 480 ports of 10/100 Mbps Ethernet or 240 ports of GigabitEthernet in one chassis with one RISC CPU running LINUX per port. TheBlackDiamond 6816 switch features 768 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports and cansupport a maximum of 1536 10/100 TX ports. The Optixia platform will verifythe performance of the BlackDiamond switch while emulating a fully meshedLayer 3 Internet Protocol network at wire-speed.

Extreme's BlackDiamond 6816 features density of up to 192 Gigabit Ethernetports in a single chassis and will accommodate a maximum of 153610/100BASE-TX ports, or 512 100BASE-FX ports when fully populated with theF32Fi module. The BlackDiamond switch also supports a maximum of 128 GigabitEthernet ports when fully populated with the G8Xi and G8Ti modules, or 192Gigabit Ethernet ports when fully populated with the G12SXi modules.
Optixia supports Ixia's existing interface Load Modules, includingOC-3c/12c/48c/192c Packet Over SONET, OC-48c/OC-192c BERT, 10/100/1000 MbpsEthernet, and USB interfaces. Optixia offers unprecedented port density andenables verification of sophisticated networking protocols such as BGP-4,MPLS RSVP-TE, OSPF, IS-IS, and RIP, as well as hardware assisted Layer 4-7application stressing of content aware routers. Optixia supports all ofIxia's existing interface Load Modules, including its 10 Gigabit EthernetLoad Modules.
