Q9 Networks signs deal to provide Web Hosting services for Morningstar Canada
📅 - Q9 Networks Inc.(Q9.com -> equinix.com), a managed Internet infrastructure services provider, announced today that it will provide Morningstar Canada with hosting services for all of its Web properties. Morningstar Canada, the Toronto-based subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. of Chicago, is an online investment firm, with a variety of web-based services, including: Morningstar.ca and MorningstarAdvisor.ca sites, its Morningstar Advisor Workstation Tool and additional staging, testing and database platforms.
The Morningstar sites receive almost 200,000 visitors per month. Between December 2000 and December 2001, Morningstar.ca experienced 600 percent growth. Q9's data centres and network are engineered for 100 percent uptime with SLA-backed guarantees. Services for Morningstar will be provided from Q9's downtown Toronto data center. 9 managed services, including: bandwidth, dedicated servers, firewalls, load balancing, Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and back-up/restore, enable the rapid provisioning and scalability of client Internet operations "With that type of growth, hosting internally just doesn't make good business sense," says Tim Gilbert, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Morningstar Canada. "Our technical group was spending too much time supporting our infrastructure and we were suffering downtime from our Internet provider almost once a month.
