📅 - Network security and availability solution provider Network Associates Inc. (networkassociates.com) and network intrusion detection and security assessment provider Internet Security Systems Inc. (iss.com) announced on Thursday that they have formed a strategic alliance to deliver integrated security products and services.
Through the alliance, Network Associates intends to Internet Security Systems? RealSecure intrusion detection technology with network fault isolation and performance management technology from Sniffer Technologies. ISS will combine Network Associates? McAffee anti-virus technology with its RealSecure intrusion detection products, as well as provide a managed security offering.
The companies say a cooperative research effort between them will support future product development efforts, while the launch of a global marketing and sales initiative will support new combined offerings.
"This alliance is a result of our focus on delivering world-class technology to keep our customers' networks secure and available," says George Samenuk, chairman and chief executive officer of Network Associates. "Integrating our market-leading technology, Network Associates and ISS will look to create the industry's strongest options for defending against the full spectrum of hybrid Internet threats."
The cooperative research initiative will take advantage of ISS's X-NAI Labs and Network Associates? AVERT (Anti-Virus Emergency Response Team) Labs and COVERT (Computer Vulnerability Emergency Response Team) Labs. Researchers from each group will collaborate on responses to evolving hybrid threats, advancing and supporting existing intrusion detection, anti-virus and computer vulnerability technology to protect and defend customer networks.
