📅 - Linux provider Red Hat (redhat.com) today announced the release of Red Hat Linux version 7.3, the newest edition of its popular open source software suite.
For consumers, version 7.3 includes new productivity tools, video conferencing software and a firewall configuration tool that allows users to choose from three predefined levels of security, or customize their own.
Version 7.3 also includes a number of enhancements to its server component, including an improved Apache configuration tool that allows administrators to easily configure Apache options, and also create and manage multiple virtual hosts
"Small businesses and enthusiasts are looking for a combination of performance, ease-of-use and value in their technology infrastructure, which is hard to find with today's proprietary operating systems," said Paul Cormier, Executive Vice President of Engineering at Red Hat. "Red Hat Linux 7.3 delivers this through a combination of open source software, support and automated remote services for confident Internet-based computing."
The company said version 7.3 will be available at retail outlets May 15, and that orders are currently being accepted on its Web site.
