May, 2002 : Data Electronics Acquires Inflow Ireland

📅 - Managed hosting and co-location firm Data Electronics (dataelec.com) said today it had purchased Inflow Ireland, the Dublin-based wing of managed Web hosting firm Inflow. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Data Electronics said the acquisition includes Inflow's Dublin data center, which the company opened in March 2001. Data Electronics also acquired the right to license FlowTrack, Inflow's data center management software suite that automates the delivery of complex hosting services from a centralized Network Operations Center.
The announcement comes six days after Denver-based Inflow said it would reduce its workforce and either close or sell a number of its data centers in order to become EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes Depreciation Adjusted) positive by the second quarter of 2002. Inflow had also said at the time it was negotiating terms to sell its Dublin and Dallas, Texas, data centers to local companies.
Data Electronics, which was established in 1976, currently has 8 centers operational throughout Ireland, and maintains a 120,000 sq ft capacity data center in Dublin. The company also hosts the Irish Neutral Internet Exchange (INEX), the main exchange point for Internet services between ISPs in Ireland.
"Our first priority is to ensure that we maintain the high level of service to Inflow's existing customers, without interruption. Strategically, this acquisition is another step in the growth path of Data Electronics and represents an important development for the group," said Maurice Mortell, CEO of Data Electronics.
