New Architecture Integrates Secure VPNs, E-commerce, Firewalls


📅 - Network security and performance firm Hifn (hifn.com) today unveiled a new security architecture that performs encryption, public and private key transaction processing and firewall flow classification in a single package, thereby providing enhanced network security.

The new architecture, labeled HIPP III (Hifn Intelligent Packet Processing), is designed to deliver enhanced performance to infrastructure in the OC-12 to OC-192 range, and is based on intellectual property developed by the company. HIP III is designed to simplify and strengthen security infrastructure, thereby enhancing and securing virtual private networks, secure e-commerce functions and firewalls. The company it would apply the new architecture to its next generation security processors.
"The industry currently meets high-end security and firewall acceleration requirements with multiple processors," said Doug Makishima, Hifn's Vice President of Marketing. "This new architecture simplifies the design of routers, switches and firewalls by integrating the security functions into single entities, thereby making security transparent across the Internet, wide area and local area networks."
Founded in 1996, Hifin customers include Alcatel, IBM, Nortel and Cisco.
