Dec, 2002 : Verio, Mercantec Provide Site-Building Tools

📅 December 3, 2002 - Web hosting provider Verio (Verio.com ) announced on Tuesday that it will offer the new PowerWebBuilder suite of e-commerce solutions from Mercantec free of charge to first-time customers of its shares Web hosting services.

The PowerWebBuilder, says Verio, enables customers to easily build their own custom Web sites, ranging from simple brochure-type sites to larger, more complex sites. The platform also provides an upgrade-path allowing users to add features and functions as their business needs evolve.
"While just about everyone knows how to use a Web site these days, its tough to actually build your own if you've never done it before and that's a serious issue for some of our smaller business customers," says Doug Schneider, president of Verio's SME Hosting business unit. "PowerWebBuilder can assist those customers who want to establish a basic Web site and don't have the time to become HTML experts to do it."
Mercantec's PowerWebBuilder is a new addition to the company's PowerCommerce suite of products, an integrated suite of Web tools that provides Web-building functions for online merchants and other businesses. PowerWebBuilder is not frames-based, and can provide customers with complete control over design and layout, says Verio.
Verio's SME Hosting division will offer two versions of PowerWebBuilder: PowerWebBuilder Basic, which allows customers to build a site with up to seven pages, will be provided for free to customers purchasing Verio's Bronze, Silver and Gold Web hosting plans; and PowerWebBuilder Pro, which offers unlimited pages and 36 design themes, will be available for an additional $4 per month.
