😠 MediaCatch Has Abandoned It's Customers
This author began using the MediaCatch service when the husband and wife team of Robert and Donna owned the business. During those years, MediaCatch was one of the most technically astute and customer-centric web hosting companies in the USA. When the MediaCatch business was sold to the man who owns FeBox, the MediaCatch service immediately began to decline.
For example, there have been occasions when the MediaCatch mail server would be operating in an impaired state for several months, and then the repair would be pursued only after MediaCatch received numerous customer notifications spanning the same several months. This lack of attention to the MediaCatch infrastructure has become common since the current owner - FeBox - began to control MediaCatch. Further, while the technical matters have been left nearly unattended by the present MediaCatch owner and staff, the customer service has suffered an even greater decline. 😠 Very very poor customer support. They never refund balance money back, if you don't like their hosting account.

😠 They provide good features along with their shared hosting account.
But very very poor customer service.
So no use to get the good hosting account without customer support.

😞 I have been with mediacatch for some time now, and up until recently I've been a satisfied customer. I began with them in 2008 just before the shift to the new administration, and asked/solved most of my question with the old team. Those guys were great.
All I can really say now is that you absolutely should not go with this host, you'll seriously regret it unless you are absolutely 100% you won't be needing customer support, because they more or less don't exist. Out of the 15 tickets I've opened over the past 2 months, 1 got answered (money I paid for a new domain had disappeared).
That being said, the host does work, and I'm now taking my time and doing my research to find a good host.
If you see good reviews about this host from the last year or so, they're probably paid or by the host himself, there's really no reason now that you'd give Mediacatch the thumbs up, and I'm sure that in a couple of years they'll be gone.

“If you check the date of the earlier MediaCatch reviews here (the reviews registered before the last couple of years), you will find excellent reviews. I have used MediaCatch for several years.
However, the later reviews - the bad reviews - correspond with the time when the original MediaCatch owners (terrific folks) sold the business to another individual - the guy who owns the febox hosting company.
It is the new MediaCatch ownership that has caused the severe decline in customer service. You are encouraged to call the febox company (febox dot com) to confirm the new ownership. The reason for the severe decline in MediaCatch customer service may be confirmed by checking the dates of the bad testimonials and comparing those dates with the time that the original owners sold the business to the febox owner.

😁 I've been using them since 2004, there were some hiccups in 2008 when the ownership changed and when they overhauled the web servers in 2009, but it got back to its usual good self after a few months. Anytime I've needed tech support immediately, I've called and spoke with "Anthony" and he always fixed my problems right away.
I run an online store on their site, so uptime and SPEED are important to me. In the 6+ years that I've been using them they've been as close to 100% uptime as it gets, and the pings and page load speeds have always been top notch, so I've stuck with them.

😠 this company used to be so great a few years back, there was always someone to talk to on live chat to resolve issues and they would offer discounts for referrals or if you experienced problems.
now there's nobody to talk to, terrible service when they eventually reply, and they're not even cheap enough to make this level of service acceptable. i have 3 plans with mediacatch and i'm in the process of moving them all away to a better, cheaper host. one of my clients has also complained of their poor service and is now moving away too.
it's sad to see such a great company go down the drain.

😉 Long time reseller customer. Tech support no longer exist. I seldom need tech support but when I do it would be nice if I could get some. This was not the case 2 years ago. These guys where on the ball then... to bad for them. Good company down the tubes. I have to move on because of this.
The sad thing about this is the current owner worked for Media Catch a couple of years ago... great person to work with and was great at tech support.

🗨 Thank you for your review, Denton. Your name does sound familiar however I cannot find any reference to you in our billing system so I could address your issues.
Nevertheless, I can assure you that we have not "gone down the tubes" with any intent. We had to overhaul the company and all related services in order to ensure that we can grow properly. We addressed this in our customer emails sent out prior to any server migrations or system changes.
When new management took over, we inherited a lot of problems with the ability to continue to grow--we simply couldn't with the systems in place. We realized that because of these drastic changes, unfortunately, there may be some clients who weren't properly setup in the old billing system or even setup properly on our cPanel server. We tried our best to find these clients but some did slip through the cracks. We do apologize that this happened to you in the support area.
I would like to invite you back to try us again for a few month

😠 I've been with MediaCatch for around 5 years and had been extremely happy with them. Over the past years customer service has fallen down to now has become almost non existant!
I have had email issues, hacking issues and zero customer service. They respond after an average of 3-4 days, don't solve the problem and close the ticket so you have to open a new ticket to attempt to get the issues resolved.
Sorry guys, but you've just lost a long term customer as soon as I can find a new provider!

🗨 Thank you for your review Steve. We do admit to rolling service-related issues in all departments in 2009. This was related to a complete overhaul of all aspects of our business for the better.
I'm not sure which hacking issues you are speaking of since there has not been any hacking issues since the new management change in 2008. The only thing that we have been battling is the wide-spread Gumblar exploit which is because of end-user's computers running outdated Adobe flash/acrobat with stored FTP passwords in their web editing programs.
I do invite you to come back and try us again, even if you just want a test account for a few months. You may email me directly at anthony at mediacatch.com when you are ready.
Thank you for your business during your 5 years with us!

😠 Mediacatch is the worst hosting site ever. I have been trying to get a hold of the billing department for weeks because my years worth of service is up and they keep trying to bill me (luckily it's an old credit card) and they won't give me back my domain. They are costing me thousands of dollars. And I am looking to get a lawyer soon!
🗨 Thank you for your review. We actually remember your case specifically and you did not want to pay for the redemption fee that is mandated by the domain registrars.
We do apologize for this as it pains us greatly to have a customer pay a required $XXX fee to recover a domain that lapsed. We also did not receive any correspondence from your lawyer, they may have been able to convince the registrar.

😁 I moved to MediaCatch in mid April after my previous hosting company announced they were shutting down in May. I have had nothing but great service from MediaCatch - they're extremely friendly, respond to tickets within a few hours, and are always willing to do whatever they can to meet your needs. Great prices, excellent service and the ever-popular cPanel control panel. I am using the Premium shared plan.
