🔃 CentralNic Reseller is part of Team Internet
(1*) 🔧 Services: Domain Registration
⇔ Redirected domains: hexonet.net
CentralNic Reseller is a business-to-business domain and internet-services platform operated by Key-Systems GmbH (key-systems.net). Its history began in 1998, when Alexander Siffrin founded Key-Systems in Friedrichsthal, Germany. The business became a GmbH and obtained ICANN accreditation in 2000, then launched RRPproxy in 2001. RRPproxy became CentralNic Reseller in October 2022, so the present brand is newer than the underlying registrar operation. CentralNic acquired the KeyDrive group, including Key-Systems, on August 2, 2018. The parent changed its name from CentralNic Group PLC to Team Internet Group PLC (teaminternet.com) in September 2023; it is based in London, United Kingdom and trades on AIM under TIG.

This is not a consumer domain shop. The platform is built for hosting companies, web agencies, managed-service providers, corporate-domain specialists, investors and accredited registrars. Private consumers in the European Union are not accepted. Normal entry requires a business account, registrar details, an initial EUR 75 balance and account-manager verification. The commercial qualification is usually 100 new registrations within the first year or the transfer of 100 existing domains. That threshold is reasonable for an active reseller but excessive for someone managing only a few personal names.

The principal service is domain registration, combining wholesale registration, renewal, transfer, restore and portfolio management across generic, country-code, geographic and specialized namespaces. Catalog totals are not perfectly synchronized. The main service overview refers to more than 1,200 extensions and web products; newer reseller and REST specifications use more than 1,900 TLD and second-level-domain options; the knowledge base indexes 1,298 TLD entries. Corporate scale figures have the same timing issue: one company profile records more than 20,000 partners in over 125 countries and 7.8 million managed domains, while newer product information uses more than 10,000 active partners and more than 10 million domains. The numbers confirm substantial scale, but they should be treated as different operational snapshots rather than one current count.

Extension-specific documentation is unusually detailed. A .com name can be registered or renewed for one to ten years, may contain three to 63 characters and supports IPv6, DNSSEC, internationalized names and WHOIS privacy. There are no registrant restrictions. Transfers use an authorization code between eight and 32 characters, normally complete in five days and add a renewal year. New registrations have a 60-day transfer lock. The expiry path includes a 35-day auto-renew grace period and a 30-day redemption period, with deletion scheduled 35 days after expiry. One to 13 nameservers can be assigned, and registration and WHOIS operations work in real time. This degree of lifecycle detail matters when a reseller must automate renewal, restore and transfer behavior across registries with different rules.

Domain migration covers portfolio consolidation and coordinated transfers, including collections containing tens of thousands of names. Expiring inventory can enter Afternic auctions, while ParkingCrew supplies domain monetization within the Team Internet group. Registry Account Management, or RAM, lets an accredited registrar retain its own registry credentials while using the Key-Systems platform, compliance processes and operational tooling. This arrangement is valuable for registrars that want direct registry relationships without maintaining a separate technical integration for every extension.

Brand protection is broader than ordinary registrar lock. Trademark Clearinghouse services use Key-Systems' accredited TMCH-agent status and include Sunrise processing. AdultBlock can prevent matching terms from being registered across adult-oriented namespaces for as long as ten years. GlobalBlock and GlobalBlock+ extend defensive blocking to nearly 600 participating extensions for terms of one to three years. Registry Lock applies multi-factor controls to sensitive changes: an instruction from the customer and authorization at registry level are required before designated CentralNic personnel execute the request. A trustee service provides local presence for selected country-code extensions with residency conditions.

KeyDNS is included with registered names and can also serve external domains. Its Anycast network uses more than 40 nameservers, nodes across five continents and separate cloud environments. Capabilities include DNSSEC, IPv6, secondary DNS, hidden-primary operation, real-time updates and DDoS protection. Each domain registered through the platform receives two million DNS queries per month without an extra DNS charge, while external domains can be added for a fee. The earlier unicast nameservers were retired on November 29, 2024, following migration to the global Anycast system. The service can therefore act as the primary authoritative layer or as a distributed secondary layer that keeps the origin nameserver hidden.

SSL certificates are supplied by DigiCert and Sectigo. The DigiCert range also covers the GeoTrust, Thawte and RapidSSL brands. Available validation levels include DV, OV and EV, with wildcard and multi-domain or SAN variants. Ordering, issuance and reissue can be handled through the panel or API and passed through subreseller accounts. DigiCert products use encryption up to 256 bits and 2048-bit keys, support internationalized domains and may allow as many as 24 SAN entries on selected OV and EV certificates. Public certificate prices are not available, so the exact reseller cost depends on account terms.

Hosting is present but is less transparent than the domain catalog. cPanel hosting can be provisioned from the account or API, with locations and packages returned by the hosting availability command and service periods extending to 12 months. Functions include webmail, WebFTP, SSL/TLS-secured IMAP, POP and SMTP, CalDAV, addon domains and subdomains. Virtual servers are API-driven and use resource classes named 512, 1024 and 2048. They can be ordered for one, three or six months and include an IP address and VNC access. Neither range has a complete public price and resource matrix, so a reseller must confirm the current account-level catalog before committing a retail offer.

Automation is a major strength. Seven gateway families are available: REST, EPP, SOAP, XML-RPC, XRRP, HTTPS and SMTP. The modern REST API follows OpenAPI 3.0 and handles domains, DNS, certificates, aftermarket, account, pricing and billing operations. Authentication uses HTTP Basic or JWT bearer credentials over HTTPS, and an OT&E sandbox allows testing before production. Standards-based EPP supports registrar-oriented integration, while the older gateways preserve compatibility with existing systems. Free modules for WHMCS cover registrar actions, SSL, domain import, DNS and migrations. Blesta modules cover registration, certificates, lock status, authorization codes, nameservers and WHOIS. HEXONET is a sister reseller brand within the same operating heritage rather than a separate component required for CentralNic Reseller service.

The interface and documentation are available in English, German and Spanish. The responsive white-label control panel works on desktop and mobile and unifies domains, contact handles, nameservers, DNS, accounts, hosting, SSL, TMCH and aftermarket functions. Multi-level subreseller support allows a customer to operate branded downstream channels. Retail pricing, end-customer billing and storefront design remain the reseller's responsibility, which preserves commercial control but adds work compared with a ready-made retail registrar.

💰 Price & Cost

Public wholesale pricing has three levels: Basic Plus, Pro Plus and Elite Plus. The reseller selects its retail margin, while higher account levels lower the underlying unit cost. For .com, Basic Plus charges USD 18.33 for registration, transfer and renewal; Pro Plus charges USD 16.12; Elite Plus charges USD 13.82. Restoration costs USD 98.88 at all three levels. These prices exclude VAT and remain in the registry's original billing currency rather than being converted into a single account currency.

Portfolio composition therefore affects both cost and currency exposure. A .de registration is EUR 8.35, EUR 7.03 or EUR 5.28 across the three tiers, while its transfer and renewal cost EUR 6.59, EUR 5.60 or EUR 4.18. A .co.uk registration costs GBP 10.80, GBP 9.25 or GBP 7.03, with transfers priced at zero. A .us registration is USD 14.04, USD 11.54 or USD 9.28. Restore fees can greatly exceed routine renewals, making adequate prepaid credit and reliable expiry automation financially important.

Accounts are primarily prepaid. Verified funding channels include PayPal, credit card, wire transfer and checks drawn on a German bank. Bank transfers can be made in EUR, USD, CHF, AUD, CAD and GBP. The general terms identify Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Eurocard, while also allowing the provider to limit a method for a particular account. Invoices are created on the first calendar day of each month. A service fee may apply monthly or annually, although it is not charged universally and its value depends on the customer agreement.

There is no general retail-style money-back period. A customized domain registration is excluded from consumer withdrawal, and renewal uses the price in force when renewal occurs. Standard services commonly start with a 12-month term and renew for another 12 months unless notice is given three months before expiry. A shorter service can renew for its minimum period unless notice arrives one month in advance. Early termination normally produces no prorated refund unless provider intent or gross negligence is involved. Funds allocated to a service that is not delivered can be credited or refunded after transaction costs. A wholesale contract can carry a 36-month initial term followed by six months' notice, so the signed agreement must be checked alongside the public price table.

🏢 Data Center

The reseller and API platform uses a 99.9% uptime figure. KeyDNS operational information places actual global uptime between 99.9% and 99.99%, but this is an operating range rather than a universal compensation-backed SLA. Registry availability can also affect registration and support operations independently of the reseller platform. The distinction matters because a platform percentage does not automatically create a refund entitlement for every domain, DNS, hosting or certificate service.

DNS infrastructure is globally distributed, with more than 40 Anycast nameservers across five continents, separated cloud environments, active monitoring and DDoS protection. The operating history also includes the Skyway DataCenter company established in 2010 and a second or backup facility in Kaiserslautern, Germany added in 2017. cPanel and virtual-server placement is returned through account or API availability checks, so there is no one public list that can safely be assigned to every hosting package.

Key-Systems controls identifiable European network resources. AS196763 was allocated in 2009, includes 8,192 IPv4 addresses and has upstream connectivity through Voxility. The related AS13246 was registered in 2002, announces IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes and uses connectivity involving Serverius, M-net, AS196763 and 1&1 Versatel. These networks confirm operator-controlled infrastructure, but they are not necessarily the exclusive path for every Anycast DNS node, registry transaction or hosted server.

Operational safeguards combine encrypted API access, sandbox testing, DNSSEC, registry lock, authentication controls, DDoS protection and IPv6 support. Anti-abuse rules prohibit phishing, malware, botnets, spam and denial-of-service activity. Reliability consequently depends on several layers: the registrar platform, registry systems, distributed DNS, network providers and any location selected for hosting.

✍️ Customer Support

Technical support is available by phone and email Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 02:00 CET/CEST, in English and German. Email requests are handled 24 hours a day on business days. Registry-dependent cases may take longer because the registry itself must complete or approve part of the work. Separate sales and support addresses are available, together with dedicated technical and general telephone and fax numbers at the German office.

Onboarding and account management add a more specialized support layer. Larger migrations can be coordinated instead of being left entirely to bulk commands, and higher reseller levels can include dedicated assistance or custom commercial terms. The complaint process has a target response time of 72 working hours. Self-service coverage is strong, with a knowledge base, per-extension rules, API command documentation, FAQs and a current blog.

The practical limitation is scheduling rather than lack of expertise. The weekday support window is exceptionally long, but telephone help is not stated as a seven-day service and registry intervention is never fully under the reseller platform's control. The arrangement suits technically capable business customers better than retail users expecting continuous live chat and immediate weekend resolution.

🔨 Control Panel

The white-label panel is responsive on mobile and desktop. It brings together registrations, transfers, renewals, contact records, nameservers, DNS zones, certificates, hosting, TMCH and aftermarket operations. Resellers can adapt its presentation and manage multiple downstream subreseller levels. Manual panel workflows and bulk or API automation use the same account structure, which is useful during migrations and when support personnel need to inspect an automated order.

WHMCS and Blesta modules reduce integration work for common billing stacks. WHMCS covers domain, SSL, import, DNS and migration functions, while Blesta handles the primary registrar and certificate lifecycle tasks. Custom systems can use REST or EPP, and established integrations can remain on SOAP, XML-RPC, XRRP, HTTPS or SMTP. The OT&E environment provides a safe place to validate commands and business logic before live funds or domains are involved.

🎯 Conclusion

CentralNic Reseller is a strong fit for a genuine domain-reseller business that needs wide namespace coverage, mature registry processes and more than one automation route. Its principal advantages are the long Key-Systems history, ICANN accreditation, tiered wholesale pricing, thorough lifecycle documentation, Anycast DNS, defensive brand services, multi-level reseller support and assistance with large migrations. RAM also gives accredited registrars a practical way to retain direct registry relationships while outsourcing much of the technical platform.

The constraints are clear. Entry normally starts around 100 domains, service is prepaid, public scale totals are drawn from different snapshots, account fees can vary and wholesale contracts may have a lengthy initial commitment. Public prices are missing for SSL, cPanel hosting and virtual servers. Telephone support is not a seven-day service, and the platform uptime figure should not be read as a blanket refund guarantee. A technically capable B2B reseller can obtain substantial value from the breadth and automation; a low-volume buyer seeking a simple retail checkout will usually be better served by a conventional registrar.
