Jan, 2004 : AT&T Wins Hospital Managed Hosting Contract
📅 - AT&T (att.com) has signed a multi-year agreement to provide Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) with a fully managed Web hosting solution supporting its Web site and e-business applications, the company said on Wednesday.
Under the terms of the agreement, AT&T will host SVMHS' Web site and applications from its data center facility in San Francisco in addition to integrating a managed email exchange service solution.
"Our relationship with Salinas Valley Memorial has grown over the years, and we're extremely proud that we've played some small role in helping the hospital become a leader in health care services," said Jon Peacock, vice president of sales for AT&T San Jose. "We're thrilled that Salinas Valley continues to select AT&T for its ongoing initiatives to be a healthcare leader."
According to the company, the contract expands a relationship between the two companies that spans nearly three decades.
"We've relied on AT&T for almost 30 years now, so they were the logical choice to meet our hosting needs," said John Fletcher, senior vice president of finance and information technology for Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. "We've come to trust AT&T, and knowing that they are managing our critical networking infrastructure gives us the ability to focus on what we do best - providing unsurpassed health care service."
AT&T said a critical part of the deal was its ability to maintain compliance with patient security requirements as set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
