Jan, 2004 : Secure Computing Unveils Security Appliance

📅 January 23, 2004 - Secure Computing Corporation (securecomputing.com) unveiled the Sidewinder G2 Security Appliance line yesterday, a suite of multi-function appliances that delivers several security applications in a single device. According to the company, the Sidewinder G2 is an enterprise-class solution that includes a firewall and delivers Web filtering, anti-virus, anti-spam, and SSL termination capabilities. The appliance also includes the company's SmartFilter Web filtering and SafeWord strong authentication system.

"We made the strategic decision to launch our own line of Secure Computing-branded appliances for several compelling business reasons," said Tim McGurran, president and chief operating officer for Secure Computing. "We conducted extensive research into the preferences of our enterprise customers and channel partners, and we found a strong demand for consolidated security solutions. Additionally, having our own line of appliances will allow us to increase both our revenue and profit margins, and will accelerate our strategic channel initiatives."
Secure Computing is also introducing the Sidewinder G2 Enterprise Manager, a solution that is capable of managing hundreds of security appliances simultaneously.
