Dec 7, 2004 : Preview of SQL Server 2005 Released

📅 December 7, 2004 - According to a report by internetnews.com, Microsoft (microsoft.com) has released the second community technology preview for SQL Server 2005. The first preview version was unveiled in October.

The latest version of SQL Server 2005, the report said, includes greater performance and 64-bit support for SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services and SQL Server 2005 Integration Services.
The community technology previews are unofficial beta tests that Microsoft uses to help test the growing functionality in its next generation of products. Microsoft only began releasing community technology previews this year.
The final version of SQL Server 2005 is due in late 2005, the report said. SQL Server 2005 is set to compete against databases from IBM and Oracle.

(equinix.com) announced on Wednesday that it has signed a long-term lease for an additional 103,000 square feet of data center space in San Jose close to the company's two other Internet Business Exchange centers in the region.
