📅 - Boston Datacenters (bostondatacenters.com -> hostinger.com), a provider of colocation and Web hosting, and The BioTeam, a consulting group to the life sciences industry, have entered into a partnership to develop hosting and colocation solutions for delivering high-performance scientific computing solutions to the life sciences industry, the companies announced on Wednesday. The BioTeam evaluates, recommends and implements new hardware and software technology for the research needs of companies in the life sciences.
Through the partnership, The BioTeam is moving its research facility from Cambridge, Massachusetts to Boston Datacenters's facility in Charlestown, MA.
"This is an opportunity for us to add hosted services to our service menu," says Stan Gloass, managing director of The Bio Team. "If a client cannot host its own servers, for whatever reason, this partnership gives us and our clients a secure facility and staff to manage these servers."
Boston Datacenters's facility, the company said, was selected because of its proximity to two power grids, which have not suffered simultaneous outages since the two systems were separated 30 years ago. With access to two power grids, the facility will have access to power in the event one of the grids fail.
"The accelerating pace of breakthroughs in the life sciences has brought the industry into the forefront of demand for high-performance grid computing. As computational clusters outgrow individual laboratories, in both scale and uptime requirements, they can benefit from the managed, secure environment that we provide," says Bill Southworth, chairman and CEO of Boston Datacenters.
