📅 January 28, 2005 - IT infrastructure and managed services firm VeriCenter Inc. (vericenter.com) announced on Thursday that it has appointed Kwesi Ames its director of support engineering.

Ames will lead VeriCenter's enterprise hosting operations and core technical support organization, and will focus this year on further automating the company's OpCenter service engine.
According to VeriCenter, Ames is an industry expert and a builder of high-performance enterprise IT organizations. He most recently served as the senior manager of enterprise hosting operations at MCI/Digex, Inc. where he successfully implemented uniform and scalable polices and procedures across all systems and networking platforms. Ames joined Digex in 1998, where he also served as senior manager of UNIX technical operations.
"VeriCenter is committed to hiring industry experts having the proven ability to drive improvements in service quality during periods of rapid growth," says Gray Hall, president and CEO of VeriCenter. 📅 Jan 31, 2005 - Germany Proposes New Spam Penalties - A law drafted by Germany's ruling coalition parties, the Social Democrats and Greens, would see any person sending spam face fines of up to 50,000 Euros, or about $65,190, according to reports. The proposed law would also prevent spammers from disguising their names or the nature of their emails. Germany made it illegal to send spam in July of last year. The new measures are reportedly part of government efforts to implement further deterrents. The proposed law will be read by the lower house in early March, reports say.

📅 Jan 31, 2005 - Go Daddy's 2nd Super Bowl Ad Rejected - Web hosting provider and domain registrar Go Daddy (godaddy.com ) reportedly purchased a second thirty-second Super Bowl advertisement slot worth $2.4 million, but had the actual ad rejected by the Fox Network, according to a weblog post by CEO Bob Parsons. Because the ad was rejected, said Parsons in his weblog, the company will run the same ad in both time slots it has purchased. The original ad, which Fox has already approved, will run at halftime and in the final minutes of the game. In a move to take advantage of the publicity, Go Daddy said it will make the rejected ad available on its Web site on Monday, January 31. "We will make the second 'reject
