Mar 30, 2005 : Easynet Deploys Riverstone Routers

📅 March 30, 2005 - Riverstone Networks (riverstonenet.com), a provider of carrier ethernet infrastructure solutions, announced on Tuesday that Easynet France (easynet.fr) has deployed Riverstone ethernet routers to enhance its Web hosting services.  
Riverstone says that by using its RS 3100 access routers, Easynet can provide its hosted Web sites with dedicated bandwidth, optimizing overall performance and security. "Our Web hosting customers like to be able to profile their Web site traffic to determine the exact level of bandwidth they need," says Delphine Goujon, network skill center manager at Easynet. "We took advantage of the RS 3100's advanced features, such as fine bi-directional shaping and Layer 2 isolation, and applied them to the data center environment. These attributes enabled us to design a scaleable and cost-efficient data center infrastructure that grows when new customers come in. We also liked the RS 3100's small footprint and good port density, which are well suited for data centers." The RS 3100 features two flexible linecard slots and 32 10/100BaseTX fixed RJ-45 ports, and can interoperate with traditional data networks, enabling service providers to extend network reach without altering or compromising existing SLAs.  "End users want to use new ethernet-based services, but expect similar SLA capabilities to those provided by Frame Relay and ATM services," says Steve Whipps, general manager of Europe, the Middle East and Africa for  Riverstone Networks. "Riverstone's quality of service solution provides these bandwidth-tailoring capabilities and is highly scalable, allowing multiple customers and service types to be deployed simultaneously."
