📅 - Data center operator and Web hosting provider IXEurope (ixeurope.com) announced on Wednesday that it would be spending 3 million Euros on upgrades to its data center infrastructure across Europe. IXEurope operates data centers in the UK, Germany, France and Switzerland. The upgrades, scheduled for completion by the end of 2006, are designed to increase resilience, UPS capacity and cooling capabilities. Standard data center designs will be improved across all the company's facilities and specific upgrade projects will take place in five facilities in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. IXEurope says it undertook the upgrades in response to recent reports concerning power supply problems in Europe and the general increase in power complexity in the data center. "With an increasing risk of power outages due to under-investment in national power systems, resilience is at the top of our agenda," says Guy Willner, CEO of IXEurope. "Our primary goal is to continue to provide our customers with high-performance, always-on solutions. This upgrade guarantees that we will maintain our track record of delivering unprecedented service levels as we continue to expand."

IXEurope acquired the data center for more than ?14 million. The facility comes with three customers with contracts worth ?17 million over the next five years.
