📅 - Data center services provider IXEurope (ixeurope.com) announced on Thursday it is a silver sponsor in the first European Peering Forum, which was held in Frankfurt, Germany on November 29 and 30.
The event brought together 150 individuals from the three principal European Internet Exchanges (euro-ix.com) and their members. Michael Winterson, IXEurope's VP of international sales and marketing, presented to the forum Wednesday to discuss the "Future of Peering" and the role of the data center.
"Traditionally, peering has mostly been about cost reduction," says Winterson. "Today peering is specializing and diversifying, with the focus being on quality - performance, resilience, ease of use and so on. "IXEurope is excited about bringing the story of the peering evolution and the future of peering to the forum."
Earlier this year, IXEurope launched its IXLAN service - an intra- and inter-data center peering connectivity service. Customers connected can buy and sell services to any other IXEurope customer connected to the same IXLAN. Once connected, IXEurope customers have access to one of three networks, including the single IXDatacenter, national, which offers multiple IXDatacenters in one country and international, which provides access to all IXDatacenters across Europe.

📅 - IXEurope Upgrades Data Centers - Data center operator and Web hosting provider IXEurope (ixeurope.com) announced on Wednesday that it would be spending 3 million Euros on upgrades to its data center infrastructure across Europe. IXEurope operates data centers in the UK, Germany, France and Switzerland. IXEurope acquired the data center for more than ?14 million. The facility comes with three customers with contracts worth ?17 million over the next five years.
