Oct 12, 2005 : Red Hat Names Technology Chief


📅 - Open source software developer Red Hat (redhat.com) announced on Tuesday it has named Brian Stevens its chief technology officer and vice president of engineering. Stevens was formerly vice president of operating system of storage and clustering development for Red Hat, and has spent the past four years leading Red Hat's enterprise strategy.


As CTO, Stevens will focus on technology strategy and oversee Red Hat's Emerging Technologies group.

Stevens has 20 years of enterprise engineering, and previously held the position of CTO of mission critical Linux. He was responsible for corporate strategy, business development, virtualization and the clustering product line.

"Brian's enterprise experience both before, and with Red Hat has been instrumental to our continued success in building out the Open Source Architecture," says Paul Cormier, executive vice president of engineering at Red Hat. "He's pioneered new technologies that have contributed to the rise of Linux as an industry-standard operating platform. Brian's vision and experience make him the right person to lead Emerging Technologies as our CTO."
