Mar 18, 2009 : MSPAlliance to Offer SAS 70 Audits
📅 - The MSPAlliance (mspalliance.com), the international association of managed service providers, announced on Wednesday that it will be offering Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 audits for its members.
The organization will offer the audits along with its Managed Services Accreditation Program exam.
The MSPAlliance will announce more details about the program at the upcoming MSPWorld conference in Orlando on April 30.
SAS No. 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as an in-depth audit of an IT company's internal controls and its handling of critical business data.
Data center solutions provider Core NAP recently completed its SAS 70 Type I audit, while data center and IT managed services provider Consonus Technologies and telecommunications provider Verizon Business both recently passed their SAS 70 Type II audit.
"The Managed Services Accreditation Program exam just got stronger," says Charles Weaver, president of MSPAlliance. "SAS 70 is a very well respected standard amongst the accounting profession. By combining SAS 70 with the MSAP exam we can offer our members a very reputable certification process that will result in increased security and satisfaction for the end-user."
Companies who are interested in taking the Managed Services Accreditation Program exam will also be able to take the SAS 70 Type I and Type II audits, which will be performed by a third party CPA firm.

The MSPAlliance is a professional association of more than 8,000 managed service providers and service enabling technology vendors.
According to the press release, these providers and vendors work together to "promote and educate the managed services industry and the end-user consumer on the adoption and successful use of technology through managed services."
