Jan 23, 2009 : Parallels SaaS Module Adds Open-Xchange
📅 - Hosting software provider Parallels (parallels.com) announced on Thursday it has integrated Open-Xchange's (open-xchange.com) open source email and collaboration software with the Parallels Operations Automation SaaS Module.
The offering expands on Parallels-Open-Xchange's previous partnership announcement, where Parallels began integrating Open-Xchange Hosting Edition into Parallels Plesk Control Panel and Parallels Business Automation.
Customers of Parallels service providers can now offer enterprise-class alternative to commercial email and collaboration products at a competitive price, as Open-Xchange software has been packaged in the Application Packaging Standard (apsstandard.com) format.
The APS standard is an application packaging format enabling service providers to easily deliver hosted applications and services developed by independent software vendors.
APS-certified applications can be streamlined and plugged into hosting platforms that conform to the standard.
APS is particularly an important aspect of Parallels Automation and is used by ISVs and service providers to seamlessly integrate applications and deliver a range of services to 10 million businesses and individuals that use Parallels products.
ISVs and service providers interested in the APS Certification Program can register at the APS Standard website.
The solution is now offered to end-users via hosting and service providers that use the Parallels Operations Automation SaaS Module, which includes features such as Open-Xchange based offerings.
Hosted business-class email and collaboration services provider Exchange My Mail is one of the first providers to use this solution.
"Leveraging the Parallels Operations Automation SaaS Module enables APS compatible application vendors such as Open-Xchange to help service providers gain competitive advantage and significantly grow profitability," says Serguei Beloussov, CEO of Parallels. "Service providers can also differentiate themselves with valuable new services, increasing their average revenue per user with both new and existing end-user customers. We are happy to see application vendors like Open-Xchange embrace the Application Packaging Standard format as they are a highlight to the growing list of over 200 applications that can seamlessly integrate their applications into Parallels Automation products."
Open-Xchange enables web hosting providers, ISPs, telecommunication companies and IT service companies to gradually expand their product range with modular SaaS offerings. Parallels Automation is a customizable data center solution that enables service providers to more efficiently manage their infrastructure.
In July, the company announced it has integrated Parallels Automation with Secure64 DNS, enabling service providers who use Parallels Automation to manage Secure64 servers within their data centers.
