According to Terremark's Monday announcement, the partnership with CSC will let government agencies quickly and securely purchase its IT infrastructure capabilities as a service over the Web including computing, storage and disaster recovery. These services are delivered in a secure and reliable environment hosted by Terremark's Culpeper, Virginia, data center.

"Terremark and CSC look forward to delivering a portfolio of cloud computing resources that will allow our government customers to implement IT services for mission-critical applications in minutes, not days," Terremark Federal Group president and chief executive officer Jamie Dos Santos said in a statement. Dos Santos also noted that the government will be saving money by having access to a large processing, storage and networking resource pool available on demand without buying costly hardware.

CSC's services include program management, IT Infrastructure Library integration, service design, integration and transition, security integration and certification, training and service improvement.

CSC ITIS division president Ashley Smith said her company's alliance with Terremark will help ensure the highest level of security. "Our clients are faced with the need to provide secure solutions for sensitive and classified information for both our citizens and war fighters," she said in a statement.

CSC has been involved in many high-profile partnerships including its long-time outsourcing agreement with Nortel Networks (nortel.com) to provide technical support and call center services to Nortel's global user community, a contract which was renewed in May 2008 by two more years (supposing Nortel lasts that long.)
