Jan 6, 2009 : NetBenefit Moves into Lumison Facility

📅 - UK based ISP Lumison (lumison.net) announced on Monday that UK managed hosting provider NetBenefit (netbenefit.co.uk) has chosen Lumison as its new data center partner.

The announcement follows Lumison's announcement in November where the company invited customers to tour its Tier 3 data center in Croydon, South London, which coincided with the launch of its high density colocation services.

Under the agreement terms, NetBenefit will provide its customers with secure and reliable managed hosting facilities and a resilient fiber network out of Lumison's Croydon facility.

"Lumison is delighted to have been selected by one of the UK's most experienced managed hosting providers to supply resilient and flexible data center facilities," says Dr Aydin Kurt-Elli, Lumison CEO. "I am particularly pleased that Lumison's approach to environmental and carbon management within the data center was key to the selection process."

According to NetBenefit CTO Gerry Lawrence, the company was seeking additional data centers to meet the growing demand for its managed hosting services, citing "scale for growth, high resilience and environmental awareness" as key criteria for selecting the Lumison's South London facility data center.

The Lumison staff worked with NetBenefit to customize its services to NetBenefit's requirements, says Lawerence, providing a "real working partnership between the two companies."

Lumison's data centers are built with an energy efficency design, and include Glycol-based air conditioning, heat recovery, evaporative cooling and low energy lighting.

NetBenefit's managed hosting platforms rely on high power densities that require efficient airflow, and Lumison's Croydon facility provides the effective cooling and the power draw that NetBenefit depends on.

The last major partnership that NetBenefit announced was in August 2008, when it teamed up with content delivery network provider Panther Express to offer a CDN that would complement its existing managed hosting solutions.
