Nov 13, 2008 : Lumison Demos High Density Colo
📅 - London companies looking for colocation services will be able to test the waters at an upcoming event as UK based ISP Lumison (lumison.net -> pulsant.com) invites customers to tour its facilities in concert with the launch of its high density colocation services.
The company says it has launched "high density" colocation services in its Tier 3.5 data center, which it later in the announcement describes as "officially a Tier 3 data center," located in South London.
To promote the new offering, Lumison is inviting IT managers to tour its facility on two open days, the 3rd and 4th of December.
"We have had a lot of enquires from companies looking to mitigate the perceived risk of Datacentres in Central London and the Docklands," says business development manager Adam Hawkes, quoted in the press release. "They have chosen Lumison as their colocation partner as we can provide the resilient power and connectivity they demand, together with a low risk location."
According to the company's announcement, the "high density" distinction refers to the facility's ability to meet high density power and cooling requirements, "ideal for power hungry blade centers."
The press release seems to suggest that the facility's power supplies exceed the standard for a Tier 3 facility (which might explain the "Tier 3.5" distinction the company suggests earlier) with dual independent power feeds, inline UPS batteries and backup diesel generators. With a diverse supply of carriers connected to the facility, Lumison says it offers "a convincing colocation alternative to the central London options."
Lumison is taking reservations for the open days via a sign-up form on its website, linked from the bottom of this information page.
