📅 - Fiber-optic solutions provider Long Island Fiber Exchange (longislandfiber.com) announced on Friday that it has acquired Internet and network services provider Exobit Networks (exobitnetworks.com).
Under the terms of the agreement, Exobit Networks will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of LIFE while the principals of Exobit Networks will receive equity partnership in LIFE.
The merged entity will integrate Exobit Networks line of Internet and networking offerings onto the LIFE network. The combined entity currently holds contracts with over 40 school districts in Nassau and Suffolk counties, as well as all three regional board of cooperative educational services,

"The integration of Exobit Networks into LIFE brings full circle our plan to offer a wide assortment of Internet services over our existing network which spans over 500 miles and is continually expanding. Exobit Networks has built an extremely reliable, resilient IP and hosting platform which aligns with the plans we have for our network."
According to Jeffrey Meltzer, co-founder of Exobit Networks and now director of network operations for LIFE, Exobit had been "watching LIFE for some time," and had recognized that the two companies were working towards the shared goal of "providing high quality Internet and networking services to Long Island organizations." He adds that the merger will be a "great fit for both companies." Long Island Fiber Exchange is an established facilities-based competitive local exchange carrier with an existing fiber optic network in Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island, New York.
The company constructs, manages and maintains fiber optic networks for clients, as well as its own 500 mile fiber network, and offers a range of services including high-speed Internet access, voice services, colocation, Web design and hosting, email services, spam filtering, data backup and disaster recovery, and network integration at LIFE's data centers.
