📅 September 23, 2008 - Real-time streaming content provider Abacast (abacast.com) has acquired peer-assisted, on-demand delivery solutions provider Tukati (tukati.com), making Abacast's new, hybrid CDN the first to offer live and on-demand media distribution using unicast and peer-assisted delivery, according to Abacast.


"The combination of these two companies' technologies enables the first hybrid peer-to-peer solution covering the complete spectrum of real-time and on-demand distribution." Abacast president Michael King said in a statement. "Bringing Tukati into the Abacast family enables content publishers to make a single vendor choice for reliable content distribution, while getting a huge leap in distribution efficiencies."

While this service was previously offered via a partnership between the two companies, the combined product simplifies content delivery options for publishers by offering a rich suite of including real-time streaming, on-demand video, game, and software distribution, progressive video delivery, and push delivery. Also, metrics for content demand and end-user performance are available in real-time, allowing marketers to better track and adjust campaigns based on consumer usage patterns.
