📅 - Montreal's Aviva Solutions Inc (avivasolutions.com), aworldwide provider of secure host access solutions, today announced therelease of Aviva for Java 3.10, a multi-host access solution forJava-enabled Web browsers.
Aviva for Java provides corporations with a zero-deployment thin-client foraccessing host-based data. Terminal emulation software in the form of a Javaapplet dynamically downloads and is cached to the client computer, so thatsoftware distribution or repeated downloads are virtually eliminated. Allthat users require is a Java-enabled Web browser, making emulation softwareunnecessary.
"For the past several months, our company has been evaluating different APIswhich support 3270 host access via the Internet. We needed a web compatibleproduct which could offer the functionality of traditional HLLAPI -- frombasic 'screen scraping' to file transfer -- together with host-to-localprinting," said Kenneth Chui, a software developer with Canadian SecuritiesRegistration Systems. "Aviva for Java was the only API we came across thatsupported all the features we were looking for," Chui added.
Aviva for Java also offers advanced SSL security options, including supportfor multiple levels and types of security as well as direct encryption withany SSL-enabled TN server. Additionally, Aviva for Java supports clientsecurity certificates so that clients are able to authenticate themselves tothe server.
Among the other capabilities of Aviva for Java 3.10 are:
Migration tools - support for the HLLAPI interface means that userscan continue to use their own legacy 16- and 32-bit HLLAPI applicationswithin the context of the new emulationOut-of-the-box usability tools such as emulation screenconfiguration so that green screens can be enhanced with user-friendlyinterfacesSupport for the Netscape 6 Navigator as well as 5250 printersessions
