Microsoft Announces Availability Of Content Management Server 2001


📅 - Microsoft Corp. (microsoft.com) announced recently the general availability of the enterprise, evaluation and developer editions of Microsoft Content Management Server 2001.

Content Management Server 2001 is the company's Web content managementsystem that enables businesses to quickly and efficiently build, deploy andmaintain highly dynamic Internet, intranet and extranet Web sites, thelatest addition to the Microsoft .NET Enterprise Server family.
"Customers looking for a content management product built for the Microsoftplatform now have a clear choice," said Chris Atkinson, vice president ofthe .NET Enterprise Solutions Group at Microsoft.
Microsoft says its Content Management Server 2001 dramatically reduces thetime required to bring Web site applications to market, while offering thescalability needed for the most demanding environments. "Content ManagementServer is an integrated member of the .NET Enterprise Server family. Inparticular, it features out-of-the-box integration with Microsoft CommerceServer 2000, enabling customers to deploy personalized and targetede-commerce sites quickly," Atkinson said.
The full-featured licensed version of Content Management Server 2001 isavailable for a suggested retail price of $39,901 per CPU. The developer edition of Content Management Server is available to MSDNsubscribers athttp://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/resources/subdwnld.asp. Thedeveloper edition will ship with MSDN Universal in October 2001.
Many early adopter customers are using the upcoming release of ContentManagement Server 2001 today to power their e-business initiatives. Morethan 150 customers - including Fujitsu Systems Business of America Inc.,Marriott International Inc., The Royal Canadian Mint, Sterling Commerce,Texaco Inc. and Verizon Communications - are using previous versions of thesoftware, formerly known as Ncompass Resolution from Ncompass Labs, to powertheir Web sites. All existing customers will receive a free upgrade toMicrosoft Content Management Server 2001.
