Mar, 2002 : Wisden.com to Broadcast Indian Cricket Series Live


📅 - Wisden.com, a popular cricket website, in association with Pacific Century CyberWorks (pccw.com) and BBC Technology (bbctechnology.com), will follow their screening of the recent India vs. England one-day series by broadcasting all international cricket from India live on the Internet until Sept. 2004.

Wisden.com was created in 2001 to offer users a distinctive service based onthe Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, which is often referred to as "the Bible ofcricket." Wisden.com provides its subscribers with up-to-the-minute reportsand comment on cricket matters, as well as an archive of the best articlesfrom the Wisden Almanack, dating back to the first edition in 1864.
BBC Technology, using the television feed from Doordarshan, the Indiannational broadcaster, will produce, encode and stream the highlightspackages from its centres in London and Reading. Broadcasting live over theInternet will open up a larger potential audience around the world, withfans being able to watch the entire Indian home series live on theircomputer. Wisden.com has registered users in 100 different countries.
The first series to be shown will be the current one against Zimbabwe.Doordarshan and Pacific Century CyberWorks jointly own and run dd.now.com,the Doordarshan website.
