📅 - Plesk, Inc. (plesk.com), a provider of automated Webhosting software, today announced the general availability of Plesk ServerAdministrator Version 2.5.
Plesk Server Administrator (PSA) is a Web-based software solution thatautomates and simplifies the administration of UNIX and Linux Web servers,providing self-management capability to non-technical domain users. PSA iscurrently used to manage over 400,000 domains for hosting companies in over80 countries worldwide.
For the first time, PSA 2.5 addresses the global nature of Web hosting byproviding multilingual capability in a hosting automation product. With onecopy of PSA, Web hosters will be able to simultaneously support users inmultiple languages, including Asian languages that require double-byteencoding.
PSA 2.5 addresses the ability to migrate from cobalt appliances to more openand cost-effective computing environments running PSA. In the past, hosterswishing to convert from a Cobalt hosting platform had to manually move allcustomer configuration and technical parameters to a new machine. Plesk nowoffers PSA with utilities and professional services that can accomplish thismigration in a fraction of the time.
The software also features new backup and restore utilities. Users can nowautomatically back up all data and users on a PSA server from one operatingsystem and restore that same server to a different operating system or newversion of PSA.
PSA runs on FreeBSD 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4; Red Hat Linux 7.1 and 7.2 platforms.System requirements include a Pentium 166 or better processor with 32MB ofRAM, and a minimum of 80MB of disk space for installation on "cleanservers." PSA supports Netscape 4.x or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x orlater.
Plesk Server Administrator 2.5 is licensed and priced based on the number ofdomains managed. A license for up to 30 domains is $199 USD, and a licensefor up to 300 domains is $599 USD. Licensing for an unlimited number ofdomains is $799 USD. Included in all pricing levels are free upgrades withinthe first year after purchase.
