📅 - nCipher (ncipher.com), a provider of IT cryptographic security, said yesterday that its nForce Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) had been chosen to help BT Ignite, BT's business services and solutions business, roll out new credit card security services in Europe.
NCipher's HSMs, in conjunction with software developed by Arcot Systems, will be used in Visa's new Verified by Visa security program. The program is designed to reduce fraud and boost consumer confidence in shopping via the Internet, interactive television and mobile networks. BT Ignite was chosen to deliver Verified by Visa services to European issuing banks, and the service went live in early May. "Worries about security of online transactions are still a major inhibitor to the mass adoption of e-commerce," said David Furniss, vice president of eBusiness at BT Ignite. "We believe that the Verified by Visa service addresses these concerns, and BT Ignite's managed offering wrapped around Arcot's application and nCipher HSMs will enable banks and other card issuers to implement the technology quickly, simply and cost-effectively."
