Sep, 2002 : USURF America to Buy High Plains Internet
📅 - High speed Internet access product developer USURF America Inc. (usurf.com) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Colorado-springs based Internet service provider High Plains Internet in a stock-only transaction.
HPI is a privately-held service provider, offering dial-up and wireless Internet access and Web hosting services in the Colorado Springs market. Earlier this month, USURF and High Plains had formed a partnership, through which HPI will market USURF's Quick-Cell wireless Internet access.
USURF's management says it expects a definitive agreement to be signed in the near future and sees no impediments to the completion of the acquisition.
"By acquiring HPI, we have taken our 'channel partner' strategy to its logical conclusion. We will receive all Quick-Cell related revenue rather than sharing revenue with a partner as we currently do with our 'traditional' channel partners," said Ken Upcraft, vice president of sales and marketing for USURF America, Inc. "We moved to acquire HPI soon after we began working with them, as their physical location in Colorado Springs and telecommunications infrastructure perfectly complement what we have planned for our Quick-Cell operations in the area."
