📅 February 28, 2003 - The Carlyle Group (thecarlylegroup.com) has hired former XO Communications chairman Daniel F. Akerson as a managing director.

Akerson, will join the Washington-based firm, which manages about $14 billion in 23 venture capital and buyout funds, next week. He will focus on North American technology investments.
Akerson was chief executive of Nextel Communications from 1996 to 1999.
