Mar 14, 2003 : Boston Communications Buys Data Center

📅 - Transaction processing solution provider Boston Communications Group Inc. (bcgi.net) announced on Friday that it has purchased a 93,000 square foot building in Bedford Massachusetts to serve as the company's redundant data center site.

The company says the building, purchased for $9.1 million from a bankrupt company, is designed and outfitted with high-end telecommunications, electrical and mechanical equipment to support bcgi's expected future growth and infrastructure.
bcgi says the hosting provider for its current redundant site in Watham, Massachusetts will be closing its facility. All processing at the site is being temporarily relocated to the company's Woburn, Massachusetts facility until the new redundant data center becomes operational. It is currently scheduled to come online in June of 2003.
"The purchase of this building, which includes a state-of-the art data center, provides numerous short and long-term benefits to bcgi," says the company's president and CEO E. Y. Snowden. "Not only are the long-term economics of owning versus leasing very favorable to us, but our dependency on third-party hosting sites and landlords will be reduced. We believe that this new space will also be able to accommodate our anticipated growth and data center space needs, as well as additional office space requirements for the next several years."
